All day, I had stressed about what Tae had told me. I dodged my brothers’ questions when they asked who called. But Jax was firmer on wanting an explanation. He wasn’t letting it slip. He knew something was wrong with me.
They all did.
I couldn’t stop worrying all day. Do I go with Tae, do I tell Jax, or do I beg Will? I decided Will was my best option.
“Long. How was yours?” I asked, sitting on the bed. I wasn’t sure how to bring up the topic of him putting me and my son on a hit list. Surprisingly, I wasn’t wanting to kill him. No, I needed him.
“I miss you, Amber. It’s killing me being away from you.” And it really sounded like it was.
“I miss you, too, Will.” I honestly did. It was hard being away from him. It was hard knowing this case was putting Jack at risk and me. Well, it wasn’t just risk. It was life or death.
“So, how are you brothers and Jax?”
“All good. I don’t want to talk about them.” I needed to somehow bring up his case.
“You near a television?”
“Um, yeah, I’m in our bedroom.”
“You always said it was your room.”
I rolled my eyes. “So, you choose this moment to remember that but when I’m telling you the closet is mine, you argue it’s not my room?”
He laughed, carefree. “Do you want to do something together?”
I laughed. “No way am I having phone sex with you.” And I laid down on the bed.
“Turn the television on.”
I reached for the remote and turned it on. “Conair!”
Will laughed. “I knew you would like it.”
“You know I love this movie.”
Will groaned. “I hate Nicolas Cage.”
“This is kind of romantic.” I sat up and I was grinning because I knew how much Will hated this movie.
“No this is kind of depressing.”
“I think being in different cities but watching a movie is romantic.”
“A gay movie.”
“A good movie.”

“See,right there he could have gotten off but no, instead he stays to be a hero!” Will moaned into the phone. He was hating every second of this movie.
“He’s staying to help his friend.” I gushed, loving every second.
“Who I’m sure is going to end up dead anyway. Look at him, his already shaking like a dead man.”
“I love this movie.”
“You just love peeving.”
