“If it involves a me buying you a new bike, then yes, I’ll do it.” She looked up at me.

As if I would be expecting her to buy me a new bike. Even if she had money now, from her high-paying job, she had nowhere near the amount of money I had.

I was the underworld billionaire. I had more money now than ever, because I had been locked up for six years. My bank balance just going up and no money coming out.

“So, what do you want?” She crossed her arms, while I kept my hands on her hips.

“I want to sleep with you.”

Her eyes widened. “You want sex? For the bike?”

I smirked, of course, her mind would go there. “No, I want tosleepwith you.” I made it clearer. “I haven’t had a good night’s sleep since our last night together. I haven’t had a full night’s sleep in six fucking years. Because of you.”

She frowned. “You want to sleep with me?” She acted like she hadn’t heard me clearly. “Like sleep? Not fuck?”

“We never fucked to begin with.”

“Is your memory failing you? We had sex every night.”

It would seem I wasn’t the only one with good memories of our nights together. “I made love to you every night, Amber. I’ve never just fucked you.” I moved my hands up her sides. “I’ve never looked at you just for sex.”

She pursed her lips. “I forgot you used to say that.” She uncrossed her arms and her hands went to mine. This time, she was the one linking them. “Well, I can’t sleep with you tonight. I have to get our son away from a serial killer.”

“You are heading to get Jack?”

“You didn’t actually think I would be sleeping while my son was with a serial killer?” She looked at me with wide eyes, like the answer was obvious. “I don’t trust him. Not with my son. Not even with a stranger’s son. He is a sick bastard. Good at his job. But creepy and I know Jack. He won’t be feeling safe. I have to go get him.”

“He feels safe with bikers, right?” I unlinked our hands and reached into my pocket, searching for my phone. Fuck, I left it on Amber’s front grass.

“Yeah, because he knows you are one.” Amber frowned, not understanding where I was taking this conversation. “What are you looking for?”

“My phone but it’s on your front grass. I’ll call a charter, get them to collect him and bring him home.”

“What? A charter? As in a full charter?”

“They do answer to me, Amber.” I was annoyed with myself. I should have kept my phone. “He will be safe with them. I’m make sure the president drives him. In a car that is safe. And he will feel comfortable because he is used to the idea of bikers.” I looked at her amazed face. “Is that okay with you?”

She opened her mouth. Closed her mouth. Then frowned and opened her mouth again. “You are going to order forty or so men, bikers in fact, to bring our son home?”

“Last time I checked in with one of the northern charters in the capital, they were over 150 members. But I don’t know the exact number. And yes.”

I looked over my shoulder and gestured for the boys to let Tae come to us. I saw him push between Cole and Troy rudely heading to us.

“I’ll have to get the number off Troy.” I was speaking out loud and Amber was staring at me like I was an alien. “What’s with the look?” I asked her. She knew I had that type of power. I’d always had it.

“You just....” She clamped her mouth shut and then looked like to be thinking about what to say. “I just forgot who you are. Not who. But I mean, well, you’re the king.” She looked slightly nervous at me. “I forgot what type of power comes with your position. I don’t know how you cope with that power.”

I smiled at her; she actually looked really nervous for some reason. She thought I had power. Yeah, maybe over the club and men who followed it. But when it came down to it, I knew who had the power.

I stepped into her, closing the gap between us. I placed a hand on her lower back and pushed her into my chest, my mouth going to her ear. “And you control the king. So, you tell me, sweetheart, how do you cope with that type of power?”

I could feel how nervous she suddenly was. Amber didn’t do nerves. She was always confident. But right now, I was making her nervous. I couldn’t help but smirk. My Amber, nervous because I was the king. I kissed the side of her face, as she remained silent.

My eyes went to Tae, who was now at the car.

“You ready to leave this fucking asshole, Amber?” Tae snapped at her at the driver’s side door. “Why are you out of the car? I’m guessing you want to go get Jack?”

Amber slowly stepped around “Um, Jax is getting him. Well, organizing someone to get Jack.”
