“You won’t target me?” Tae’s voice went up just slightly and I smirked. Amber had him just where she wanted him. Amber was right, she was his biggest threat, maybe that’s why he had kept such a tight grip on her.
He was vulnerable at the moment.
“She might not but I’ve always wanted your business on the coast.” I spoke up. The boys smirked, knowing very well I didn’t want Tae’s drug run. But I was the only one capable of taking him out. And if he thought I had Amber helping me, he would be panicking.
“Amber?” Tae was looking for reassurance.
“You know our little sister doesn’t answer to you anymore.” Troy linked his hand with Amber’s, pulling her back. “Also, you should watch your back, Tae. Because a person who threatens my sister doesn’t live for long.”
“I’m not scared of a biker.” Tae spat the words out and his eyes went back to Amber. I knew he loved her. He always had. I don’t know how the two didn’t end up together after all these years. He sure as fuck fought for it but she was serious when she said she’d never put Jack in harm’s way.
I think that’s what stopped her from going to him.
“I wasn’t saying you should watch your back because of us. I’m saying you should watch your back because my sister is a trained silent killer. Only a madman would threaten her and her son.” Troy wrapped his arm around Amber’s shoulder. “Come on, Amber, let’s get you home.”
Amber nodded. And Troy spun them around.
And just like that, Amber walked away from a man who had been a main fixture in her life. I took a few long strides and as soon as I was next to her, I took her hand.
She glanced at me, still under Troy’s arm.
“Troy, I need your phone.” I linked my hand with Amber’s, her hand was cold.
“I’ve already called the northern charter to collect Jack.” Troy surprised me.
He saw my expression. “What can I say, after all this time, I know how you think.” He unwrapped his arm from around Amber and gave her a slight push into me. “So, you want us to ride up to the boarder to meet them?”
“You guys haven’t slept!” Amber didn’t just curl into me, like she had done to her brother. “You can’t hit the road on no sleep.”
“Amber’s right. I’m not sending you out.” God, her hand was cold.
“Well, I’ve already called the situation in. Your bike is getting collected.” Adam was at my side. “The rest of us didn’t fuck our bikes like you.”
I heard Amber mutter something under her breath.
“Yeah, well, we will have to see how much damage I have done to Amber’s car.” I remembered the bike heading in that direction.
“Amber’s car is fine. Your bike went into a shipping container. If it wasn’t fucked before you jumped off it, it is now for sure.” Tyler didn’t hide his disapproval. He had cared for my bike the whole time I was in prison.
And then I trashed it.
I could feel Amber’s eyes on me, as if she was waiting for a reaction.
Well, she wasn’t going to get one.
“Of course, Markus is waiting for you to confirm the orders,” Troy added. “You know a president can’t order another president what to do.”
We came to a stop at Amber’s car, avoiding the bodies.
“Right. I’ll call him and confirm it.” I had a feeling I wouldn’t be heading to bed any time soon.
“Yeah, and while you are at it, call for a dock clean. And you need to confirm your move to this charter.” Cole added to my list of things to do.
“Amber needs protection now. We need members on a security watch. We need to install cameras. We need to put up a fucking fence. We need to scope out Jack’s school, his friends, their families. We need background checks.” Adam approached this situation like he approached club problems.
“Yeah, we need to address the major issue, which is Amber and Jack on the hit list.” Tyler was standing behind me with all the boys.
Amber was just getting in the car and I knew she had heard what her brothers were saying but before she said anything or heard any more, I closed the car door.
