Page 20 of Reaper and Abby

The look on his face when he held Tyson for the first time.

I stepped to the altar. Unlinking my arm from Dad. Kade’s large grin as he looked at me. As if I was his world.

This time I was marrying Kade not Reaper.

He was my true north. Every time I got misguided, he’d pull me back.

He’d saved me repeatedly.

I linked my hand with his. A priest standing in front of us, opening the ceremony. I felt nervous the whole time. Then when the vows came. I suddenly felt panic. Until I turned to face Kade. He looked directly into my eyes steady, calm and that settled me completely. As if it was just him and me. I forgot about the packed church and even the fact our kids were in the front row.

I managed to get the scripted renewing vows out. I was thankful we weren’t writing our recommitment vows.

“Abby, you’re my angel.” Kade started, and I was shocked. We weren’t writing our own vows! “My soul. I promise until the day I die, to protect you from every devil. Good, bad, ugly, my love for you will never change. You claimed my heart and soul,” he placed the ring on the tip of my finger “and this ring is to basically tell every other fucker to stay away from you.”

A burst of laughter came from the church. My eyes were too glued on Kade.

“You’re mine forever baby.” He added, and took a step closer to me. “In this life and the next.”

He slipped the ring on my finger and it was never to come off.

So in a church packed with sinners with saint's heats and wearing a very expensive white dress.

I kissed him. Knowing I would fall asleep every night in his arms with peace of mind and safety. Knowing that his love for me was unconditional. Knowing he’ll never leave me. But more importantly, knowing we’d never give up on each other, we would never stop loving each other.

Epilogue

Two Years Later

Abby

I expected a club problem to occur, and for Kade to get distracted. I was wrong. Weeks passed, then nearly two months. We worked on our relationship. Hannah started sleeping through the nights. Eve could sit for hours. Then years passed.

But it was Tyson’s improved, I noticed the most. It all started with a motorcycle. Kade taught him to build one from the ground up and call it stupid, but it felt like he was teaching Tyson, more than just how to build a bike. Especially now that he was eighteen and wore a club cut.

I finished my degree. I still don’t know how Kade got me to do it. I was so set on giving up and walking away. Yet I did it.

The girls were growing up so fast. I looked across at them, as they planned their sixteen birthday. Just as the front door opened.

“Hey Brad,” I said warmly.

“Hey, Abby,” He replied, closing the door. Hannah was out of her chair quicker than anyone else.

“Mom, Brad and I are watching the Halloween special tonight in the living room, is that okay?” She had mentioned it earlier.

Brad and her got on well. He was the only member of the club she would talk to.

“Sure.”

Eve pushed the chair back and each day that passed. She actually reminded me of myself. A strong independent woman, but with a cold side.

“I’m heading out,” She threw me us a wave and left. She was getting more distant as the years went on.

“Tyson and Reaper are in the garage, Brad, if you want to see them.” I added before I turned and walked to my studio.

Every moment it would hit me. I got the perfect husband and family and it was all due to the fact I got on the back of a bikers bike, at sixteen and trusted my heart that Kade was the man for me.

He claimed me, rivaled all others for me and in the end it was redemption of our mistakes that made us stronger and no bad day or bad moment would break us. Because we would overcome any problem. Our past proved that.
