Page 3 of Reaper and Abby

Then my eyes widened. My daughters.

“You know don’t you.” I pointed a finger at Callan, my voice going up. “You sick fucking bastard you knew it was us!”

“Abby. Leave.” Reaper was up and he would have to drag me out of this room; which he knew cause as soon as he went for me, I dodged him.

“You know I have daughters. You know!” I couldn’t stop my voice going up, louder and louder as realization hit me.

Callan was a man that would do anything to get us back. If he was around, we couldn’t be. Simple.

Callan moved forward in his chair, a slightly smug expression on his face. “Hannah and Eve, heard all about them. Kade is proud of his family.”

Sick. I felt physically sick.

“Is he the new drug connection?” I asked Reaper, dodging his arms again. I wanted answers. “Is he your new business partner?!” I pushed Reaper back when he went to guide me out again.

“Club business Abby.” That line coming out of Reaper’s mouth sent me back years. Three children. Years of marriage. Here it was. Him giving the same line he gave me when I was eighteen.

“You do business with him, you lose us. Simple.” I laid out the reality of his decision. He didn’t know the damage Callan had done to me, or my family.

“You are asking me to pick between the club and my family?” Just like that, he changed modes, from Kade to full on Reaper. “Club is the club. Family is family.” He took a step closer to me, dominating his height over me. “That is how it is, Abby, and don’t fucking think for a second you can take either from me.” His words were a threatening, firm and cruel hiss. “Now get the fuck out.”

Wasn’t the first time he spoke to me like that. The last time was when I was eighteen and my dad had just had a heart attack.

I didn’t move, like I had been ordered to do. I was shocked. How could we back to this? Why would he speak to me like that? Why the hell would he ever talk to me like I was nothing? He said, over and over, I was his everything- that this family meant everything to him.

But then his words repeated in my head, don’t fucking think for a second you can take either from me. It slowly sunk in and as it did, the tears spread to my eyes- he was right. I couldn’t do a fucking thing. I could never take the club away from him or take his family from him. Cause he was the reaper.

And the Reaper got what he wanted.

Who the hell was I to think I had some control over him?

“You know what I don’t understand, the whole two-toned hair coloring crap.” Kim was flipping through a magazine at our enormous kitchen island while I prepared tea.

“It’s called ombre Kim.”

“It’s called disgusting Abby.”

I rolled my eyes and went back to flipping my stir-fry. I was not going to argue with her over the latest hairstyle.

“Aunty Kim.” Hannah, pulled herself up on the bar stool at the kitchen island, gaining Kim’s attention.

Kim had a real sweet spot for the girls. So it was only normal for her to have a wide smile on her face when one of them approached her.

“When is Uncle Trigger coming back?”

A deafening silence followed. I went into damage control. “Hannah, can you go get Tyson and Eve, for dinner?” I asked and redirected my fourteen-year-old attention. “Please.”

Hannah’s eyes went from Kim to me, with a small frown, then nodded her head, getting up and doing what she was told. Hannah was never one to break the rules. She could be considered the easy child- but everyone would be wrong. Hannah followed her heart, which was why I knew one day, her heart could lead her to dangerous places.

“Thanks.” Kim spoke when Hannah left, her voice low. “I never know what to say when they ask about him.”

“How about their uncle is a dickhead?” I scoffed, not being able to stop my thoughts from coming out. I looked up from the stir-fry, seeing the hollowness in her eyes. “Sorry Kim.” I immediately apologized. “I’m sure it is going to work out.”

Her lips formed a tight line, and she briefly nodded her head. We both knew it wasn’t likely.

I heard him coming before I saw him, and my eyes snapped down to the food. Suddenly, my attention on the food went up.
