It felt so good to hear him declare that. I squealed when he began to stand up with me still in his arms.
“I worked up an appetite. Let’s go get that food I owe you.”
I wasn’t opposed to the idea. My stomach had been trying to let me know she was on E for the last hour, but this pit stop wasnecessary. I needed Kinga to know he was going to be okay. We both would be so long as we had each other.
I smiledafter opening the door to let Kianis into my condo.
“Hey, baby.”
All the pressure of the day fell from my shoulders the moment he stepped into my bubble and wrapped his arms around my waist. A gentle kiss was placed on my forehead that finally turned my heart back into a still body of water and not a vibrating, thumping tsunami.
“How’s my good luck charm? You have a good day?” he questioned, taking a step back.
I shrugged. “It could’ve been better, but I’m happy it’s over now and you’re here.”
I missed being around him when we were away from each other, but it always gave me something to look forward to at the end of the day.
“Your touch makes everything better.” I didn’t look away as I made my confession. I wanted him to know I was serious.
He was about to turn around and step back out the door but paused. “I try to be over here as much as I can be, but somebody is always sending me home.”
I blushed, folding my arms over my chest. “Because I can’t focus when you’re here. While your touch certainly makes everything better, it also makes me forget about everything else in the world. It’s so healing.”
For the first time, I noticed all the bags sitting in front of the door.
“What’s all of this?” I stepped around him to peek.
Kinga rubbed his hands together with a proud tilt of his chin. “I got some things for you and our baby.”
The wordourfalling from his lips made my knees weak. I could taste its sweet sugary notes on my tongue, making this moment so much more potent.
“Some?” I repeated with a chuckle. “Looks like a lot.”
He shrugged. “It is, but I don’t care. I wanna give y’all the world.”
I took a step back as he started to bring everything inside in groups. I watched the bags pile up in front of the couch with every trip he made back and forth. Finally, he finished, and I plopped down on the couch with my feet tucked under me.
“We still don’t even know the baby’s sex yet, babe.”
He walked around the hall to sit beside me. He placed my feet in his lap and shrugged.
“I can take the other gender stuff back or give it away to some fans. I know we’re not the only ones about to pop out a littleone.” He tapped me on the nose. “Part of being so blessed is we get to bless others.”
His words were so comforting. After that motorcycle incident, I was almost convinced he was heartless, but I understood he was suspicious of the incident, mainly because of where we were. I couldn’t think about what would’ve happened that night if bae got his way and we kept going.
“You ready to check it out?” He looked so full of joy and excitement.
I nodded. “Yes. Let’s do it.” He made me sit back while he handed me bag after bag. I wasn’t sure there would be anything left for people to give us because he’d gotten literally everything twice over.
I giggled. “Oh, babe, we’re gonna have to do a huge giveaway. We can’t keep all this stuff.”
He was completely unfazed. “Okay. Let’s do that then, but I wanted us to start getting ready. Our little girl or boy will be here before we know it.”
Suddenly, the mixture of being drowned by baby clothes and gadgets then his reminder of how time was moving quickly made everything more real. My breaths started to come out in short spurts. Kianis noticed my erratic breathing and became concerned.
“You okay, baby?”
I placed a hand over my heart.
