ChapterThirteen
“What about Millie?”Baker asked.
He looked at Lash, Nash, Alex, and Tiny. They were looking through some paperwork that Whizz had left withthem before going back up to his room.
“What about her?”Lashasked.
“I want to bring her to the clubfor protection.”Baker twisted his hands, hating the nerves thatwere rushing through his body. He’d never been this fucking nervousbefore in his life, and it was pissing him the fuck off.Millie wasjust another woman, but he couldn’t bring himself to think of heras just another woman. She was a sweet woman, so sweet that shedidn’t even think about her own damn safety, and it was driving himcrazy. The club was on lockdown, and he wanted his woman, not thatMillie knew she belonged to him.It was a technicality that heintended to rectify at some point.Only, he’d not done ityet.
“Seriously, dude, youclaimed her as your woman, go and get her,” Nash said.
Heat filled his cheeks.“She, erm, shedoesn’t know.”
All of the men turned to look athim.
“Okay, let me get this straight. You’ve been dating a woman, and she doesn’t have a clue that you’reactually dating. We’ve been keeping an eye on her shop.”
“It hasn’t ever come up,”Baker said.
“For fuck’s sake, Baker, man upand grow some fucking balls,” Lash said.
Anger hit Baker hard. The men turned toLash in surprise.
“What? You want me to pussyfootaround him? He’s got a woman out there, and it’s not up to us tomake him make a decision. He either wants Millie or he doesn’t.She’s a nicewoman, and Angel likes her, okay?If Baker hurts her, it’s going tohurt Angel, and if you hurt Angel because you hurt her friend, I’llfucking hurt you, do you get me?”
“I get you.”
Turning away, he made his way outside.Stink and Sandy were wrapped around each other, and he just didn’twant to see that shit.
It’s time to moveon.
He was once married to the most beautifulwoman he’d ever seen, until Millie.Happily married, baking everysingle day, and now, he was running with The Skulls.
You were always more thana baker.
Pushing the thoughts out of his mind, herode into town toward Millie’s toy shop. She ran the only toy shopin Fort Wills.
Baker loved being around her.She was sodamn sweet, even more so than Angel.Millie was also oblivious tothe dangers in the world.Once he was outside her shop, he climbedoff his bike and made his way inside. He paused as he took in thesight of her.She was sitting on a stool behind the counter, apencil running across her lip as she tried to do the crosswordpuzzle. Her hair was pulled into a ponytail.
Clearing his throat, he waited as shelooked up.The moment she saw him, she smiled.
“Baker, I wasn’t expectingyou.”She placed the puzzle down, and climbed off her chair, rounding the counter.
She wore a pair of pale blue jeans and along shirt.None of her curves were on display even though he knewthat she possessed them.
“I want you to come to theclubhouse,” he said.
“Why?”She frowned, and Lash’swords ran through his head.He had to have balls, and right now, hewanted Millieat the clubhouse.
“Look, you’re my woman, and I’mnot going to pretend that you’re not.”He moved past her, grabbingher bag and keys, shutting down the computer as he talked.“Theclub is on lockdown, and I want you there.”
“Baker, you’re scaring me.I don’t understand.”
He stepped up close to her, placingher jacket over her shoulders.“You’re mine. You’ll always be mine, and I’m not going to pretend anymore.”
“We’ve had a couple ofdates.I don’t understand.”
Grabbing her arms, he pulled heragainst him, slamming his lips against hers.Sinking his fingers into herhair, he moaned as her sweet scent surrounded him. He’d never knownheaven like this, and he never wanted to know anythingelse.
