“Ace and I aren’t used to living with a beautiful woman. We’re both getting used to it,” he whispers.

I need to squeeze my legs together because hearing him say that, especially so softly in that deep voice of his, has my panties getting wet.

He pulls back and smiles down at me. “I got called into work. I can bring Ace with me,” he says.

I shake my head, pulling away from him completely. It’s too much and I can’t concentrate being that close to him.

“No, you go. I’ve got him,” I say, walking out of the kitchen to change.

“I won’t be gone long,” he yells toward my back.

I nod and go into my room, closing the door. I lean against it and blow out a breath. “What the fuck was that?”

A few hours later, Jayden still isn’t home. I decided to make dinner because I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the way he was earlier. It wasn’t the normal friendly touch; it was something more. He wanted me to know it was something more.

Now, I’m nervous because my body is screaming for me to see if he’s interested, but my head says don’t be crazy.

I look over at Ace as he chews on a bone. “I wish you could talk. He probably tells you everything.”

I lean against the counter and close my eyes.

Images of Jayden in bed flash in my head.

I’m fucked.

Chapter 4

Jayden

Last nightI got home late. Cambri was asleep on the couch. The dinner she made was still sitting on the stove and Ace was asleep by my bedroom door.

Like the night before, I carried Cambri to bed and stood watching her for a few minutes. The way her hair framed her face. The way her lips part ever so slightly. The soft sounds she made as she moved. My dick seems to be constantly hard when I’m near her and watching her sleep is no different.

I left her room and cleaned up the kitchen, letting Ace out while I showered. When I was in bed I couldn’t stop thinking about Cambri. There’s so much sexual tension between us and I’m ready to get some relief, but I don’t know how she’s feeling.

That’s why when I woke up today, I packed us a lunch and decided we’re going on a picnic. Cheesy? Maybe, but possibly some time together, we can figure out if we’re both on the same page.

I’m sipping on my coffee when she comes out of her room. Her hair is a mess, the tank top and sleep shorts she has on are doing nothing to cover her body. I adjust myself and pour her a cup of coffee.

“Thank you,” she whispers.

“Sorry I had to work so late. The inspector is coming and everything that could’ve gone wrong, went wrong,” I explain.

She sips her coffee, keeping her focus on the floor. “You don’t need to explain anything to me.”

I use my fingers to lift her chin and keep her eyes on me. “Yes, I do. I saw you made dinner and I felt fucking horrible.”

“Shit happens,” she says, shrugging.

She doesn’t believe me. She has grouped me in with all the other guys that have fucked her over. I can’t blame her, but I’ve also never given her a reason to believe that.

“Cambri, I’m not like the other guys you know. I’m not a liar. I don’t fuck and walk away. I don’t take advantage of people. If I was out doing other things, drinking, or fucking, I would tell you. I have no reason to lie to you.” I search her eyes and lift an eyebrow. “I was working and when I was done, I came home. I put you to bed, I cleaned up, and I went to bed.”

Her blue eyes search mine as I release her chin. “You put me to bed?”

I chuckle, crossing my arms to keep from grabbing ahold of her. “The last two nights, actually.”

That blush I love creeps up her neck, and she shyly smiles. “Thank you.”
