“I still need to go to work,” I say, wishing I didn’t.

“We both do, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t going to be fantasizing about you until I get back,” he confesses.

I close my eyes and smile. “I’ll be doing the same.”

He lets out a groan and I open my eyes. “You better eat because neither of us will make it in today if I don’t back away,” he says, stepping away from me.

Immediately, I miss the contact.

This shift is going to take forever. Knowing that I will be coming home to him and hopefully be under him. I glance up at him and as he finishes off his breakfast. I don’t know how biting bacon can be sexy, but fuck, he makes it sexy.

“You know I love your blush. It gives away your thoughts,” he says, grinning.

I laugh, covering my face. “I hate that I blush.”

“It’s a turn-on,” he says.

I look down at the floor, feeling my face heat.

Yeah, this shift is going to suck.

I lookat myself in the mirror, running my hands down my black flowy dress that swishes around by my knees. It’s been a long time since I got dressed up. I’m usually in work clothes with a ponytail high on my head. Tonight though, I feel great.

My hair is down with soft curls. My makeup is dark, making my blue eyes pop. This dress is showing just enough cleavage and stops just at my knees.

Of course, I like to look good when I go out, but for some reason with Jayden, I want to make his head turn. I want him to fight to keep his hands to himself. I want to feel beautiful.

I smile, stepping into my red heels, and walk out of my room. Jayden is standing at the backdoor, watching Ace run around. He has a small grin on his face, and it warms my heart. The way he loves Ace is proof that he is more.

As I begin to walk, my heels click on the floor, and he turns around. I take a moment to appreciate the sexiness before me. He’s got on dark jeans and a black button-down shirt. It’s not tucked in, and the top two buttons are open. His dark hair is a perfect wild mess, but it’s his eyes that stop my heart. They are burning into me, but somehow appear soft.

He’s fucking stunning.

“Damn, Cambri. You look fucking amazing,” he says, walking toward me.

His fingers sink into my hair, pulling lightly. My eyes bounce between his as he grins at me. “You take my breath away.”

It’s one of the most sincere compliments I’ve ever received. That’s not just something I’m guessing. It’s something I know. He hasn’t broken eye contact and his eyes are lighter and soft. He’s relaxed and speaking directly to me.

I’ve been lied to or maybe pacified so many times, that most of the time I can tell when someone is being real or just being who they think you want them to be.

Jayden is real.

“You look hot,” I say, touching his chest.

Before he can reply, Ace is barking at the door to come in. He shakes his head, smiling as he pulls away from me. Ace runs in and races toward me. My eyes widen, knowing he’s going to jump on me with his dirty paws.

I back up a bit, holding my arms out as I shake my head. “No, no, no. Don’t jump,” I say.

“Ace!” Jayden yells. As if by magic, he stops and turns to look at Jayden. “Go lay down.”

He retreats to his bed that is in the living room and curls up on it. I look up at Jayden, shaking my head.

“It’s so damn impressive and frustrating how well he listens to you,” I say.

He chuckles, sliding his phone into his pocket. “He knows I mean business.”

Who am I kidding? If he used that voice on me, I’d do exactly what he said too.
