“Yeah, I guess he does.”
“You ready?” he asks.
“Absolutely.”
He takes me to a new Italian restaurant in town. Once we park, he rushes over to open my door for me, helping me out of his truck. He doesn’t let go of my hand as we walk inside. It’s incredibly sweet.
The hostess sits us right away and I take a minute to look around. It’s a beautiful restaurant and I’m willing to bet the waitresses make a hell of a lot more than I do.
“What would you like to drink?”
I look up at the waitress and smile. It’s always nice having a table of pleasant people. You want to make sure they are better taken care of. “I’ll have a glass of red wine.”
“I’ll have the same,” Jayden says.
“Wine?” I ask, lifting an eyebrow.
He lifts a shoulder; peeking at me over the menu. “I enjoy a glass every once in a while.”
After we order, I sip my wine, feeling the need to fill the silence. “I never asked if you grew up here.”
“No, only moved here after my mom passed away. The company I work for was expanding and they asked if anyone wanted to go help start it up. I figured I needed a change, not to mention it paid a hell of a lot more. So, I left California and moved here to Kentucky.” He reaches his hand across, grabbing mine. “What about you?”
“My birth certificate says I was born a few towns over, but this is where I bounced around my entire life. I could’ve left and started new, but in a weird way, it was comforting to be here. I guess because it was the only real constant in my life,” I explain.
He squeezes my hand as his eyes soften. “It’s not weird, Cambri.”
The food is bought out and we spend the rest of the time laughing about things Ace does and keeping the conversation generally light.
The check is dropped off and suddenly I’m nervous. Not because I don’t want to go home and have sex, I’m craving that. It’s more of the idea of how we go from friends to more. Normally, we walk in the house and go our separate ways or sit on the couch and watch something on TV. But tonight, it will be different.
I glance up at him and my heart pounds.
Different is good.
Chapter 6
Jayden
When we getup to the door, I stop her from opening it. She looks up at me and I grin. This beautiful woman has made it difficult to keep my hands to myself tonight. It took everything in me not to push that sexy dress up and fuck her in my truck. And now, in a matter of minutes, I will be touching her how I’ve fantasized about, but I want her to understand it’s not just sex. Not because I think she feels differently, but because I know she doesn’t. I want to reassure her.
I wrap my arms around her, resting them on her round ass. “This doesn’t change anything. I’ll want you as much tomorrow as I do right now. You get that right?”
Her arms rest on my shoulders as she smiles up at me. “I get that, Jayden. Now, open the damn door.”
I chuckle pressing a soft kiss to her lips. When I open the door, Ace comes running for us and I give him a pet and let him out real quick. I’d love to just carry her to the bedroom, but once we’re in there I don’t want any interruptions.
She steps next to me, and I sink my fingers into her hair, pressing my lips to hers. She lets out a soft moan and I pull her flush against me, tightening my hold on her hair. Her fingers dig into my arms, and I nip her bottom lip, pulling away.
“You know when you walked in on me jerking off?”
She blushes, nodding her head.
“I was fantasizing about fucking you. About the sounds you’d make and the way you’d feel against me. And it wasn’t the first time,” I say.
“Damn,” she whispers.
Thankfully, Ace barks at the door and I let him in. “Good boy, go to bed,” I tell him.
