“I have a dog.”

“A dog? Wow, what kind?”

He smiles and pulls out his phone to show me a picture. “He’s a pitbull mix.”

I take his phone and smile at the adorable brown eyes staring back at me. “He’s so cute.”

“He’s really well behaved. He listens really well. He’s used to being home alone, he usually just sleeps most of the time. I understand if you aren’t looking to have a dog in the house, but he goes where I go, so if he’s not welcome, I don’t want to waste any more of your time.”

I lift my eyes to him, shaking my head. “No, I think it would be great to have a dog around. At least someone will always be here with me,” I say, smiling.

“He loves people. A little head pet and he’ll be your best friend,” he says, beaming with pride.

“Is he housebroken?”

He laughs, pocketing his phone. “Yes. He’s almost two years old.”

I stand up and smile down at him. “Well, how about I show you the yard then. See if you think, what’s his name?”

“Ace,” he says, standing up.

“See if you think Ace will like it,” I say.

We walk around the yard, and he tells me that Ace will love laying out on the grass in the sun. I show him everything inside, including his room, and he seems to really like it all.

“Well, Jayden, I’d love to have you move in, if you’d still like to,” I say, searching his dark eyes.

I still have questions. But I’m not going to push him to tell me about his private life. Especially when he hasn’t even asked a thing about me.

“I mean, do you have any questions for me before you decide?” I ask.

He smiles, crossing his muscular, tattooed arms. “How old are you?”

“I’m twenty-five,” I say.

He nods, letting his eyes rake over my body. “Do you have a boyfriend I’ll need to worry about being jealous?”

I laugh, shaking my head. “Hell no.”

He lifts an eyebrow and smirks. “Hell no?”

“I’m just happy being single,” I say, shrugging.

He nods, searching my eyes. “So am I.”

Fuck yes. He’s single.

“Well, Cambri Hansley, I would love to be your roommate.”

After we talk a bit more about when he’ll be moving in and how much he’ll be paying, he leaves, and I flop down on the couch.

I really didn’t think I’d find someone, but he’s perfect. He seems like a good guy and the best part is he has a dog.

I’m excited to have someone to cuddle with and take on walks. Maybe play fetch in the backyard. He can keep me company when I’m feeling lonely.

People always say that dogs help reduce stress. I could definitely use help with that. Between working so much and my lack of sex in the last six months, I’m wound up. I think a dog will occupy my mind. Keep me sane and help me relax after a long day of working.

The best part is that he’s already trained. I don’t need to do anything but love on him.
