She laughs, grabbing her beer and sitting on the couch too. Ace of course jumps up between us and lays his head on my lap.
We end up staying up until almost two in the morning talking.
I’ve never spent that much time talking and getting to know someone. It was kinda great.
Cambri might be getting under my skin, and I don’t think I want to remove her.
Chapter 3
Cambri
Jayden has been herefor a month, and I feel like he knows me better than anyone else. Not because we’re having sex or have sexual feelings. Well, that’s not true. I have sexual feelings, but he doesn’t.
We hang out most nights, just relaxing. We have dinner together and talk about our day. We’ve gone out a few times for drinks and it’s always a good time.
He keeps me laughing and loves to tease me, which I’m finding a turn on. His simple touches are comforting. I’m beginning to depend on him. He’s a friend that I didn’t even realize I wanted or needed.
A sexy as hell, muscular, tattooed, bad boy looking, friend.
If I’m honest he’s the type I’m always going after and always getting screwed by. Literally and figuratively.
There’s something different about him though. He’s not an asshole like the guys I’m used to. It’s a really nice change.
Not to mention, I love having Ace here. He brings so much life to the house.
Right now, he’s sunbathing in the yard while I get ready for work. You can tell he misses Jayden when he’s not around, but he settles for me. I haven’t gotten him to cuddle with me yet, but he stays in my general area most of the time.
As I finish getting ready for work, I go to grab my sneakers and I can only find one.
“That’s weird,” I mumble.
I look under my bed and in the closet, but nothing. I go check the bathroom, living room, kitchen, and still nothing.
I glance outside and as soon as I look at Ace, I close my eyes.
“You took my shoe, didn’t you,” I whisper.
Where would a dog put a shoe?
I check under the couch, behind all the furniture, and by his food bowl. Nothing.
“What if he took it outside?” I say to myself.
I sigh and open the back door. As soon as I do, he jumps up and comes running toward me.
“Ace, what did you do with my sneaker?” I ask as he runs past me. “Thanks.”
I go outside and look all over the yard, but I see nothing. Not even a hole that he could’ve buried it in.
When I go back inside, I check the time and start to get annoyed. “Ace, I’m gonna be late for work. Seriously, what the hell did you do with my sneaker,” I say, groaning.
He looks at me, wagging his tail and I shake my head. He has no idea what I’m saying and probably doesn’t even remember taking the damn sneaker.
I stand in the living room and spin around trying to figure out where the hell I didn’t look. That’s when my eyes land on Jayden’s door.
I snap my head toward Ace, narrowing my eyes. “Did you bring my shoe in his bedroom?”
The last thing I want to do is go through his room, but I’m out of options. I should’ve left for work already. I push open the door and smile when I see his bed is made. I don’t know why it surprises me, but I guess I just figured he didn’t take the time to do that before he left for work in the morning.
