I wonder if these are The Devils of Cliffside Cressida was talking about last week. I think she mentioned that they wear masks to hide their identities. But I’m pretty sure she said there were five.
“What did you mother fuckers do to Court?” Court? I wonder who that is?
“You better step the fuck back, Kevin, or you’ll be next.” Someone with piercing, emerald-green eyes.
“Next? Where is our boy?” I recognize Jensen from one of my classes as he shouts. “You mother fuckers waltz around here and in town like you own the motherfucker! Y’all ain’t shit, and your day is coming.”
“That’s because we do own it.” Another masked figure laughs, causing the crowd to erupt in oohs and ahhs.
Meanwhile, I turn around in my seat because it’s three tatted, buff guys to two not so buff tattooless ones. That’s not a battle I want to insert myself in.
“Don’t try and show off just because we have an audience, if all five of us were here instead of two, none of this shit would even be going down like this. Your fucking ass would be grass.” Someone steps up, slinging those words at all three of the masked figures, and I’m stuck like Chuck craning my neck to see it’s Jensen.
“Fuck all of you. Tell your pet to get his ass here now and let’s settle this.” Kevin yells while Jensen agrees.
“The way I see it, it’s your own fault. You sent him in there to his death, but you failed to let him in on the plan. Now, he’s gone and… Well, he’s just gone.” The blue-eyed bandit says.
But I’m rooted in the same spot when the others begin to laugh, except the one in the back. He’s just watching with a scowl creasing his forehead.
“Court got whatever was coming to him. The same will happen to the rest of you if you keep this shit up. Now, get the fuck out of our way or Spade won’t hesitate to kill your ass right here and now. Fucking pussies.” He snickers. Spade? It’shim.
“You win this round, but trust me when I say, everyone has a weakness, and when we find all of yours… It’s over!” He barks, before turning away and attempting to leave with his group.
“What a bunch of fucking pussies.” The green-eyed hottie smirks, but somehow his steely gaze now looks more brown than green in the sunlight, and my panties don’t stand a chance of survival.
“I got your pussy, bitch.” Kevin spits at the lean green machine’s feet, and I all but snicker at the nickname I just gave him.
“Jensen, I suggest you and Kevin walk away right fucking now, before I lose my cool and kill you both. Nobody, and I mean that with every fiber in my being, will fucking stop me from dismembering you in public. I could care less who sees.” The one with the long blond hair spilling into his eyes growls. He’s shaking uncontrollably as the words pass his lips.
“Let it go, Spade, they will get theirs sooner than they think. Here isn’t the right time.” The Blue Eyed Bandit comes to the one called Spade and places a hand on his chest.
“This isn’t over, fuck face. You better sleep with your lights on, because I’ll be there, waiting to add you to my collection.” He laughs, turning and walking away from both guys.
The other masked figures follow him and disappear across the quad before my eyes.
Meanwhile, the other two guys watch them go. Then, Jensen pulls out his phone and makes a call. After what feels like several minutes, someone must pick up.
“Court is dead, we need to pull the others before they meet the same fate.” He’s so cool, calm, and collected as he barks orders into the receiver. I’m not sure why all of a sudden, I want to know more.
‘Because your ass is nosey, that’s why.’ Leave it to the voice in my head to let me know how utterly crazy the idea of me listening in to find out more is. I mean, I don’t know who the masked, sexy men were, but I do know those other two guys from my classes.
Well, I have no time to take on anyone else' problems when I have my own. I start arranging my food in the perfect order for me to eat it.
As I’m doing this, I see a shadow cast over my plate and look up to see what’s the cause of it when I’m greeted with muscle.
“Oh, um, yeah. You’ve got uh, a lot going on right there in my personal space.” I chuckle, motioning between me and my space as I look up higher into Karter’s face. “Karter? What are you doing here?”
“Just heading to class. Saw a beautiful face and decided to come over and say, hi.” He says, flashing that megawatt smile that I know melts pants off every time.
“Yeah, I’m so sure. Flattery is not your strongest suit.” I laugh a nervous laugh, and I’m not sure why.
‘You know why.’
‘No, I don’t.’
‘Stop being so vanilla, you know it has everything to do with that hot-as -uck kiss y’all shared and now you see him on campus. You’re feeling sorry for yourself, suck it up buttercup, he’s a great kisser. Deal with it, move on, and get more of those luscious lips of his.’ She grumbles, and I’m appalled.
“You know what one of my strongest suits is.” He wags those thick eyebrows in my direction, and I can’t help but laugh.
