“Don’t call me that! You give me the best, unimaginable sex of my life and then you just… I’m not asking you for a whitepicket fence and three and a half bathrooms! I just want my baby and then we’re done!”

“What?” I groan. “All you want is my fucking sperm and then you’re done with me?”

Her eyes are ablaze, but I can see her tense in front of me.

“That’s our agreement.”

“That you give yourself to me with one singular agenda in mind? A fucking child?”

The look in her eyes shatters. I feel bad immediately, but how could she? Wanting to leave me after she gets what she wants?

“Hey, the sex was great! I imagine it doesn’t get any better, but it takes more than sex to make me want you back, Emmett,” she snaps.

Fuck!

She stares at me, as if waiting for me to say something… but that hope in her eyes, that expectation, I just can’t…

“Angel,” I start looking. My wife starts laughing humorlessly.

“You really are a coward,” she seethes. “Give me what I want and let’s part ways!”

I tug my hair, frustrated beyond belief. She’s threatening in ways no one in this world is able to and I don’t know what to do so I try another approach.

“Have you even stopped to consider the dangers of what could happen to the fetus…”

“I don’t need your input!”

She can’t be serious.

“It’s not going to happen!”

She quickly gets up from the bed, naked and so fucking sexy, I’m instantly hard but her eyes are blazing with fire.

“Like hell it won’t! We agreed! You’re not getting out of this!”

I’m livid. At her carelessness, her stupid demand that I can’t meet… Earlier when she kissed me, she was obviously seducing me into doing what she wants!

But before I can reply, there’s a knock at the door.

I give my wife one last look and then turn to leave.

“Emmett!”

“I said it’s not going to happen, Ivy. Think of something else.”

And with that, I slip out of the room, frustrated and enraged.

Partly because she’s being unreasonable, but mostly due to my own incompetence.

I can’t give her what she wants.

CHAPTER 24

Emmett

“Sir, is everything okay?”Ty questions seriously—something he never is—when I open the double doors in a fury.

Kai is also looking at me with slight concern. “Sir?”
