‘Gracias,’ Alejandro replied. ‘I have everything I need.’ He took my hand, lifted it up, then kissed it softly.
Kadesha’s smile dropped and she stormed off.
My stomach flipped. With that small action, Alejandro had made a very clear statement. He’d said that he wouldn’t be calling her (although I didn’t even see him take her number) and that he was happy with me.Swoon.
‘Thank you,’ I said.
‘For what?’
‘For making me feel… so good.’
‘Cariño.’ He flashed his gorgeous smile, and when I remembered that was Spanish forsweetheart, my stomach fluttered. ‘I am just getting started.’
‘What’s in the box?’ I asked, trying to stop my libido from spiralling again as I imagined how else he could make me happy.
‘Let us look.’
When he opened the box, I burst out laughing.
‘What is funny?’ he frowned. ‘There is a great selection of food.’
‘Typical chef!’ I said. ‘Of course the first thing you saw when you opened the box was the food. But my eyes went straight tothat!’ I pointed to the top right-hand corner of the inside of the lid, where Kadesha had boldly written her name and telephone number.
‘Oh…’ Alejandro’s eyes widened. ‘I did not see that.’
‘I reckon Kadesha would be very sad to hear you’d missed it.’
‘It is not important. The only woman I am interested in is you.’ And as he leant forward and kissed me again, something told me he was genuine.
We left the breakfast hall and headed to reception.
‘Hello, ma’am.’ The receptionist smiled. I hated being called ma’am. Made me sound about a hundred, but I knew she was just being polite. ‘How may I help you?’
‘We were just wondering if we could extend our stay for one more night?’
‘I can check. What’s your room number?’
Once I gave her the number, she tapped into the computer.
‘I’m sorry. That room is booked for the next week.’
‘Do you have anything else available?’ Alejandro asked.
‘I’ll take a look for you, sir.’
‘Please.’ He smiled. ‘Call me Alejandro. Sir makes me think of my grandfather!’ he joked.
‘Ohhh!’ Her eyes popped. ‘Soyou’reAlejandro!’
‘Sí…’ He frowned. ‘Why?’
Knowing people had been talking about him didn’t surprise me. Like I’d said before, someone who looked like him was hard to ignore.
‘A number of our guests heard your name being called out several times last night…’ She smirked and my cheeks heated with embarrassment. Clearly, I was much louder than I thought.
‘I see,’ Alejandro said, trying to keep a straight face. ‘If I get my wish, I cannot promise that they will not hear it being called again…’ He faced me, his eyes the colour of charcoal, then licked his lips.
‘You’re averylucky lady.’ The receptionist smiled at me. ‘We actually have a larger room available.’
