“Your family are villains?”
Leif snorted. “Hardly. They’re petty criminals and con artists. They could be searching out the real super villains, and instead, they’re using what they can do to steal banking passwords and troll for blackmail material.” He sighed. “Bjorn is the very best person I know, and when he said we were going to be friends, I went with it, because who doesn’t want to be friends with a good, kind person like that?” He turned his head on the pillow to look at Kassian. “Right? Is it wrong that I use him as my guide?”
“To what?”
“Being good.”
“You are good.”
Leif shrugged. “Not so good I could avoid being possessed by a murderous ghost.”
“Good enough to save my life. And Bjorn’s. And the murderous ghost’s.”
“Can you save a ghost’s life?”
“I don’t know. What does the ghost think?”
“Nothing gets past you, huh?”
“Not a lot.”
“The ghost doesn’t want to be dead.”
“Which he might be if he leaves your head.”
Leif shrugged.
“Well then.” The bed dipped and Kassian looked over at Bjorn, who continued, “Guess it’s a good thing you have both of us. I might be a helpful guide to the good side of the force, but I’m hardly smart enough to figure out how to take on a ghost.” He nudged Kassian’s legs apart and stroked the warm cloth he’d brought back with him over his balls and ass to clean up his spunk. He looked at Leif while he worked. “Just because a slightly deranged berserker hitched a ride in your brain doesn’t change who you are. And you were a good person before you ever met me.”
Leif smiled at him. “I love that you think that.”
Bjorn leaned over Kassian to kiss Leif. “And I love you.”
“Same.”
Kassian glared at the ceiling.
Finally, Bjorn straightened, gazed down at him, and then, with a sigh, leaned down to kiss him too.
The man was no shabby kisser.
Leif had fallen back asleep and Kassian was halfway there when Bjorn finally crawled onto the far side of the bed, wrapped an arm over Leif’s waist and let out a groan of satisfaction. He met Kassian’s gaze over Leif’s sleeping form.
“He’s going to be okay.”
Kassian nodded. “He is.”
CHAPTER 14
WORK/HOME BALANCE
“From Zero to (Subpar)Hero: A Beginner’s Guide to Minor Superpowers.” Kassian read the title aloud from the screen of his phone. “Is this seminar today?”
Leif didn’t blame him for the slight whine in his tone. He felt the same. Having a ghost living rent free in his head was proving to be a lot of tiring work.
Let everyone else gathered around the table think what they wanted. His exhaustion was all the damn ghost’s fault.
Roger smirked across the table at Kassian and Leif squeezed his hand.
