He stroked my hair, then his eyes narrowed over his shoulder, before he pushed off the bed and spun around to face Kai.

He stood right in front of me and I realized he was shielding me, and giving me time to right myself, come down from that incredible orgasm, and fix myself back into my pants.

“You’re really testing the limits of my goodwill and patience, sorcerer,” he rumbled at Kai.

“Right back at you,” Kai growled.

“Kai, it’s not—” I started.

“Head back to our room,” he ordered, cutting me off.

“Don’t command him,” Vorzyr told him.

“It’s for his own good.”

That pulled Vorzyr up short.

And then he turned to me and kissed my cheek sweetly. “See you soon, babe.”

“Nyx!” Kai snapped, as Vorzyr lingered around me.

I jumped and hastily fixed my pants, then brushed past Kai who noticeably, didn’t even look me in the eye.

He was that pissed at me.

Dammit.

The dragon was challenging me.

This was a form of payback from his sick and twisted perspective.

Odd, because I was usually known as the sick and twisted one.

Having it reciprocated wasn’t something I was used to.

Of course, he’d picked up on that.

He was making himself one hell of a stubborn adversary.

One hell of a notable adversary.

And now he’d tried to dig deeper at my heart by coming after Nyx.

“You’re immune to Incubi allure.”

“That I am,” he responded like a self-satisfied little bitch.

“Not all dragons are. In fact, most aren’t.”

“Correct.”

I kicked the door shut—again—because Nyx had left it open in his discombobulated state when he’d left moments ago.

“Do you have any idea what this meant to him?”
