“It’s been a helluva day,” I said. “Hasn’t it?”

“Something like that,” she murmured, scooting awayfrom me and hopping out of the door on the opposite side of the vehicle. She darted into the manor without waiting for me, probably intending to call her mom. Before she disappeared inside, she spun around. “Which bedroom should I use?”

I stepped out of the car, wanting to put my fist through the window glass. “The one you woke up in the first night.”

“Got it!” She waved, and the front door opened and closed.

Basically, she’d shut down every goddamned fucking fantasy I’d been dreaming up for the past month, and I leaped away from the manor.

Her hesitation stung my ego, and I was shocked she was already thinking about leaving.

CHAPTER FORTY-THREE

That Night

Logan probably didn’t get it, but I needed to shave my legs, wash my hair, and do a little landscaping on my lady parts before I hopped into bed with him. He probably didn’t give two shits about all that, but I sure as fuck did.

Especially for the first time, the time we’d both remember best forever.

Plus, a million years, give or take. Or however long shifters lived.

In short order, I located shave gel, a razor, hair products, lotion, and a bathroom big enough to make myself sexy before I took a power nap. I’d definitely need a power nap before I took Logan to bed.

Two hours later, a knock on the manor door brought me bounding into the foyer, and I grinned and waved at Olivia on the other side of the door before pulling itopen. “Hey, what’s up? I don’t think you have to knock to come in here. It’s the headquarters, isn’t it?”

She marched inside with her freshly washed hair and clean clothes, but her face was a tight mask of fury. “What the hell did you do to Logan?”

“What?”

“He’s out picking fights with every shifter he can get his hands on, so I’ll ask again. What the hell did you do to him?”

Laughter bubbled up, spilling over, and I pressed a hand to my middle. “Are you kidding me?”

“No.”

“If I had a guess, he’s probably out throwing a fit over something he shouldn’t, working out some sexual frustration before he drags himself back home to find out if I’m still here or not.”

Olivia frowned. “Okay… That’s not quite the reaction I expected. What exactly happened between you two?”

“He wanted to fuck me the minute we got out of the car, and I wanted to shave and shower first. Then he was shocked I wanted to decide later about moving in here or not. There’s a shit-ton of logistics I have to consider before I completely relocate. Deciding something like that right after Acheron had practically beat the hell out of all of us…” I shrugged. “It didn’t seem like the right time to decide, and I haven’t checked in with anybody in Willow Creek yet.”

Her face split into a wide smile, and she chuckled. “So, he thinks you basically said you never want to live with him or fuck him.”

“Yeah, if I had to guess.”

“Typical alphahole when somebody doesn’t agree right away.” She gave me two thumbs up. “Good for you for sticking up for yourself. He may be an alpha, but you’re the multimorph, and that’s going to take him a while to get used to.”

I stuck my head out the front door. “Where is he right now, anyway?”

“In the training room where we worked together those first couple of days.” She tucked her blond hair behind her ear, and her expression turned thoughtful. “Man, doesn’t that seem like a lifetime ago?”

“No kidding.” I slipped my feet into a pair of flip-flops near the door, probably Logan’s.

“Have a good night,” Olivia called after me. “Do all the things I would do.”

“You know it.” I hurried out into the compound.
