“Seems to be the reoccurring theme here,” she teased.
“Guess, so.” He buried his face in her neck as he began to move.
A knock came at the door. “Dad. You awake? It’s time to get up.”
He muttered a curse as he pulled out. “To be continued later.” He nipped her neck before climbing out of bed. “Yeah, I’m up, Liam.”
“Okay,” his son said.
“Can you do me a favor?” Mackenzie grabbed his pants off the floor and put them on while Aurora ambled naked into the bathroom.
“Sure, what do you need?”
He opened the door a bit. “Get Riley and Abby up for me. I’ll be down in a second to start breakfast for all of you.”
Liam’s nose wrinkled. “Why does it smell so sweet and a bit musky?”
“Adult stuff, son. I promise I’ll explain it later though.” A tinge of embarrassment rolled through Mackenzie. With his son’s first season on the horizon, Liam would be learning the difference between all kinds of scents, including arousal, desire, and lust.
“Sure, dad.” Liam frowned. “I’ll get Riley and Abby up. See you downstairs.”
Mackenzie sighed. “Thank you for being so mature, son. I appreciate it. We’ll go for a run tonight, if you want and then, I’ll explain everything.”
Liam perked up a bit. “You’re on. Thanks, dad.”
“You’re welcome. See you in a minute.” Mackenzie closed the door behind him and ran his fingers through his hair. “What a cluster fuck.”
He lifted his chin and inhaled. The subtle scent of Aurora’s arousal wafted toward him from the bathroom and his dick throbbed.Fuck it. What’s five more minutes. He tugged off his pants and entered the bathroom. Aurora stood with her face in the water and her back to him. He took in the curves of her body and growled.
Okay, so maybe a little more than five minutes. He pulled the door open to his shower and stepped inside. “Liam is getting Riley and Abby up and ready.”
“Oh?” Aurora glanced over her shoulder.
“Yes,” he answered.
“And you’re telling me this because...”
He spun her to him then back to her up to the wall. “Because, when you walked into the bathroom, the sway of your ass got my dick hard and I need you again.” He lifted her with ease and Aurora wrapped her legs around his waist.
“Why, Mr. Raferty. You are a dirty dog, aren’t you?” Her features morphed into a mask of pleasure as he lowered her onto him.
“Damn right I am, and don’t you forget it.”
Chapter Nine
When they arrived at Kalkin’s, the party or dinner or whatever Kalkin called these little get togethers, was already in full swing. Mackenzie ushered Aurora into Kalkin’s home along with Abby. Liam and Riley had found two of the younger children outside and were hanging out on the bridge between Danielle’s and Kalkin’s house. Hayden, along with Emmeline, followed them into the house and joined Nico and Asher at the couch.
The noise inside the house seemed to surprise Aurora. She’d never experienced anything like it before, even when her parents were alive. Maybe it was the infectious laughter or the open chatter of those who’d gathered together, it filled her with wonder and a sense of belonging, something she hadn’t realized she’d missed until the Halloween party she’d been invited to.
“Want anything to drink?” Mackenzie asked.
Aurora nodded. “Sure. Why not.”
“Anything specific?”
She shook her head.
“I’ll be back.” Mackenzie gave her hand a squeeze.
