Her gaze darted in Kenner’s direction. His demented blue eyes swirled with hate and intent. Whatever they had planned for her, she instinctively knew it could end with her being putting into the hospital. She closed her eyes, afraid of what was coming next.
“We can’t do this here,” Dawson said. “Don’t want people calling the police on us.”
“I agree,” Matthew replied.
“Fine. We’ll take her to the gym. It’s about time she gave it up again.” Kenner grabbed her broken arm and tugged. “Come on, bitch. It’s time for your second lesson on how to take a dick.”
No. She couldn’t go with them. If she did, they’d do more than rape her as they had before. She clawed at them, trying to break their hold as they dragged her up off the ground. She jerked her arm back and forth, hoping to break their hold of her, but they were strong. Way stronger than her. Their maniacal laughter rang in her ears. Her heart pounded. Her vision narrowed. Buzzing filled her ears. If she passed out then and there, she was a goner. She had to act quickly.
Bex stomped on Kenner’s instep then kicked at the side of his leg. He snarled and shook her, stopping them momentarily. Eito was right, she could fight. She could get away. She couldn’t count on anyone to save her, she needed to be the one to protect herself. She might not have the power she used to have in her right leg, but it would hurt more now that her leg was 85% metal. The minute Kenner started for the gym, she lashed out again, stepping on his foot this time and elbowing him in the gut.
His grip loosened as he doubled over and she squirmed from his grip, landing on her butt again. This time, she scrambled to her feet. She used her left leg to push off, but smacked her face on the ground when one of the assholes tripped her up. Bex clawed at the ground. She wouldn’t make this easy for them. Never again. She could fight back. She wasn’t weak. She’d been forced to think she was.
As Kenner grabbed her good leg, she heard the squeal of tires seconds before an old purple car hopped the low curb. Alé, Eito, Jacolbi, and Alex jumped out of the car, leaving Bronx to help Bex. Each of the guys wore a menacing expression. Startled by their presence, she lay there for a moment, trying to right herself. Had they come for her? Why? Seemed like a reoccurring question for her. Why?
“Danxiao gui,” Alex spat. The cruel expression on his face match his disposition.
“Hey, let’s get you in the car, okay?” Bronx turned Bex’s face until she was looking into Bronx’s blue eyes.
Bex nodded. “O-Okay.”
“You kicked major ass. We were impressed.” Bronx tucked Bex into her side. “Where’d you learn those moves?”
Bex shrugged, not sure if Bronx was complimenting her, or making fun of her. "W-Watching."
“I bet. It’s what my dad taught me before all this shit.” She shrugged. “They’re good moves to learn and, best of all, you surprised Kenner by using your prosthetic. He must have thought you weren’t able to use it. What were you thinking?”
“Hurt m-more.” Bex grinned. “Eito s-said I w-was s-strong.”
“Damn right you are.” Bronx giggled. “Watch. They’re badasses.”
She peered out the passenger window.
Alé stepped forward. He placed his hand on Kenner’s chest and shook his head. “Not happening, guys.”
“What the fuck do you care?” Kenner took a step forward. “Not like you’re her parent or some shit.”
“We care.” Alé stopped him again. “I’m trying to do this the right way.”
Matthew laughed. “The right way?”
"Yeah, dumbass, the right way. If we had it our way, you'd end up in the hospital on a fucking ventilator." Jacolbi patted his hand with the bat she hadn't noticed when he jumped out.
“Yeah fucking right,” Dawson snarled.
“That’s a nice shiner, I’d hate to fuck up the rest of your face,” Alé added, pointing to where Eito hit Kenner. “You just don’t learn do you.”
Kenner stepped into Alé’s space again and murmured something. Alé turned to the side and rubbed his bottom lip. “Why’d you have to bring my mom into this?”
The dark menacing look on Alex’s face turned downright feral as though he were only being held back by a leash Alé controlled. Alex curled his lip. “Góu zai zi.”
“Dude, what have I told you about speaking in Chinese?” Jacolbi muttered. “We all want to know what you said.”
“I called him a bitch’s whelp.” Alex smirked then blew Kenner a kiss.
“Damn it, guys.” Alé sighed. “I’m trying to defuse the situation, not let you fuckers brawl.”
“Technically, we’re not on school grounds.” Eito stood shoulder to shoulder with Alé.
