Page 38 of Betraying Bexley

Alé, Alex, Eito, and Jacolbi stepped into the conference room in C&C. The fight had invigorated him. The idea of those fucking assholes feeling an ounce of the pain they inflicted upon Bex, made the split lip and cut above his eye worth it. He’d doctored himself, as did the guys before they stepped into the building. Bad enough they were going to get questioned, he didn’t want Doc Rae babying them.

He took a seat and waited for everyone to get there. His hands ached in a good way and adrenaline continued to pump through his veins. Those were the types of fights he missed. The one he walked away from not worried about what would come next. It was a straight-up, beat down. Between him, Alex, and Jacolbi, they put those asshole All-Americans in their place, plus Bex got a new ride out of it. Fair and square. Yet, he had a feeling shit wasn't finished. The minute those bitches got wind of their fuck buddies losing, they'd double down on Bex.

He leaned his head back in the chair and folded his hands across his mid-section. They were still spinning their wheels there. They needed more. Bex being at the house staying with Bronx was a positive, but they had two problems on their hands. One being Raul and the second the bullies. Either one could eventually do something to Bex no one would be able to protect her from. That shit didn’t sit well with Alé. It didn’t sit well with anyone on the team. Nonetheless, Bex also showed she was made of sterner stuff. She fought with Kenner and in Alé’s book, won.

“You guys look like shit,” Noah said, stepping into the room with Mateo. “What the fuck happened today?”

“Nothing a little beat down won’t cure,” Jacolbi said with a smirk. The guy vibrated with energy sitting across from Alé. His fight had ended the quickest. “Who knew Dawson had a glass jaw.”

“What?” Noah cocked a brow.

"We should say it once instead of three times," Alé replied, as the others joined them.

“Sure thing.” Noah stood behind Mateo.

Asher whistled while AJ and Scotty frowned. It pissed Alé off. None of them were at the school day in and day out, with the exception being Mateo. They didn't see what happened to Bex. And, even if they did, it was as if everything at the school had been set up to inflict as much damage as possible to those who didn't fit in like others. Alé sat up a little straighter and showed off his busted knuckles. They would be black and blue for a few days, but the little pain he accepted didn't compare to what Bex dealt with daily.

“Since everyone is here,” Asher said, nodding to Alé, “why don’t we start from the beginning.”

Alé stood. “I guess it’s easier to start from the moment we stepped into the school. Today, we noticed a few deficiencies at the high school. Things, if we didn’t have to pay attention to them, we would be none the wiser. However, since we’re supposed to get to know Bex, and befriend her, we spotted it.”

“There’s a hole in your security,” Eito said. “It took eleven minutes for Mr. Aquino to intervene in the cafeteria.”

“There was a fight?” Asher glanced at Alé.

"Not one of our choosing." Eito cleared his throat. "I did as you asked. It was nice. I made lunch for Bex. When I deposited it in front of her and went to grab my meal, Kenner decided it was the perfect time to start his shit."

“I clocked it from the minute it started,” Jacolbi said. “I wanted to test the workers and the security of the school. I wanted to know how long it would take them to respond to the commotion.”

“Eleven minutes,” Noah grumbled while staring at Mateo.

“Yes.” Eito nodded. “Eleven minutes of me evading Kenner’s wild attacks. Eleven minutes of me trying my best not to get involved.”

“Needless to say, by the time Mr. Aquino arrived,” Alé added, “the fight was over, and Kenner was on his ass.”

“Shit,” Asher hissed. “But it doesn’t explain your appearance.

Alex grinned, pushing back in his chair. “Nope. Didn’t happen then.”

“After school?” Mateo glanced at each of them and frowned. “When? Where?”

“Not far. About a block away from the school. They were smart enough no one would know what was going on, I suspect. Had we not been driving by on our way here, we’d have never stopped Kenner or Matthew or Dawson.”

"Oh, God." AJ covered her mouth. "What happened?"

“Kenner was trying to take Bex off the street.” Alé flexed his hands. A fresh wave of rage surged through him, putting him back into the moment where he watched Bex desperately trying to get away.

“Son of a bitch,” Noah snarled.

“We taught them a lesson though,” Jacolbi added. “I don’t think they’ll be bothering her for a while.”

Asher stared at Alé. The fight didn’t have very many rules, besides taking Maserati if they won each match. If he had to guess what Bronx and Bex were doing at the moment, he suspected Bronx was showing Bex all the ways she could modify the car, since technically when they were done, it would be hers.

“A lesson?” AJ signed as she spoke. “What kind of lesson.”

Alé rolled his shoulders. “Kenner’s red Maserati is sitting in Jamie’s driveway.”

Mateo jumped to his feet. “What?”
