“Yes. Hurry now. Go.” Enzo lifted his chin to her leg. “Put it on and go.”

She hated every minute of it. From adjusting her leg to finding a blanket in the back corner of the room that smelled like mildew and piss. But, she also knew she couldn't go out looking like she was, covered in two men's blood. Bex eased out the window and took a second to orientate herself. She could hear traffic on a major highway and realized she wasn't out in the middle of nowhere, but in a housing development. She opened the phone and had been tempted to call the police, but doing so would get Enzo killed instantly. Instead, she wrote down the address and started walking.

Every breath she took, trying to get closer to the main road out of wherever she’d been, put pressure on her ribs and lungs causing them to burn from exertion. Her face throbbed to the beat of her heart and her right eye had begun to swell shut. When Bex was sure she was far enough away, she called for an Uber and hid in the darkness until they arrived. She knew she looked like a frightful mess, but there’d been no way for her to change, nor clean herself up. The Uber driver could also choose not to take her and if that happened, she was screwed.

Once the car pulled up, she stepped out at them. The look on the driver’s face said all she needed to know. “P-Please don’t g-go. H-Help me.”

The guy looked at his car then back to her before nodding. “Are you sure you want to go to this address and not the police.”

“Yes.”

He held the door open for her and she got into the backseat. She knew she wouldn’t be able to relax yet her eyes grew heavy and her body didn’t want to cooperate with her. The smell of drying blood and musty pee should have made her sick, but she couldn’t find the care to be worried about it. Bex drifted, darkness clinging to the corners of her vision. A buzzing had filled her ears. When the car stopped at the gate of the building where Enzo said to go. A man approached the vehicle.

“What’s your business here?” His deep voice drew Bex’s attention.

“Enzo t-told me t-t-to c-come.” She slumped against the seat as everything went dark.
