''Yeah, you're right.''

Deciding to change the subject, I ask, ''What are you doing tonight? Cain is working at the bar, and I'm going to hang out there with him. Do you want to come have a drink?''

''Sorry, I wish I could. I'm going to my parent's for dinner. It's been a few weeks and mom is beside herself with questions about our new venture.''

I laugh. ''Well, tell them I said hi.''

''I will. Is it safe to assume you won't be staying at my place tonight?''

Two days ago, the club hooked London's apartment up with a new steel door and a top-notch security system, so she is now back home and no longer staying at the clubhouse. I, however, am still at Cain's. He hasn't brought up my leaving and neither have I. I think it's something I need to talk with him about tonight. I don't want to overstay my welcome.

''I'm not sure yet. I'll text you later tonight and let you know.''

We both eat our meal in silence a few minutes before London lets out a sigh. ''I sure will miss staying at the clubhouse. Everest is one mountain I wouldn't mind climbing.''

I toss my napkin at my best friend. ''You're too much.'' We both laugh.

''What! I speak the truth. These men are fine as in F.I.N.E. And don't get me started on your man who is a twin. A TWIN! God made two of them, Promise.'' London waves her hand in front of her face fanning herself.

The rumble of Harleypipes reverberating off the walls of the office, which grabs mine, and London's attention. We glance at the front office window where I see Cain pull up on his bike and park. I smile when he walks through the door. ''Hi.''

''Hey, Sugar.'' Cain prowls toward me, leans down, grips the back of my neck, and kisses me. And not just a peck. Cain has no qualms with public displays of affection. He proves it by sticking his tongue in my mouth any chance he gets. And me being the greedy hussy I am, I let him. I love the way he tastes.

A throat clearing brings me out of my lusty haze, and I break away from Cain. London is looking at the two of us with a goofy grin. Cain gives her a chin lift. ''London.''

London mimics Cain's gesture. ''Nova.''

She then grabs her purse off the table beside her and slings it over her shoulder. ''Well, I'm out. I'll call you tomorrow, Promise.''

''Okay, girl. Give your mom and dad, my love.''

London gives us a wave over her shoulder as she leaves.

''You have any more shit to do here, babe?'' Cain asks.

''No. I'm done for the day. Thanks to Kiwi and Fender, we were able to knock everything out early.''

''Good. You're on the back of my bike then. Get your shit, and we'll head to the bar.''

''Oh. I was going to go back to your house and change first.''

Nova appraises me. ''You look fine, babe.''

I peer down at my cut off jean shorts, oldDef Leppardt-shirt, and shrug. ''Okay.''

When Cain and I step outside, I lock the door to the office and drop the keys into my purse. Taking my bag from me, Cain places it in the saddlebag on his bike. As I'm putting my helmet on, I notice Cain's body stiffen. When I peer up at his face, his attention is on something over my shoulder. When I look behind me, I see Leon Velasco step out of the back seat of a black SUV.What the hell?

''Stay here. Don't move,'' Cain orders just as Kiwi and Fender come up behind us. Fender flanks Cain while Kiwi places himself in front of me, blocking my view of Cain and Leon. I can't hear the words that are spoken, and I can't see Cain's face, but his body language says he doesn't like the fact my former client is here. I'm a bit shaken by it too. It's been days since the last flower delivery. I was thinking he had moved on from trying to gain my attention.

A minute later Leon gets back into his vehicle, and Cain appears again in front of me, his face hard. ''Let's go,'' he clips.

''Cain. What did he want?''

Cain ignores my question as he straddles his bike.

''Cain?''

''On the bike now, Promise.''
