I frowned when his driver wasn't going to his house but was going to mine. Akari was knocked out, but he needed to wake up, especially when I thought we were going back to his house.
"Akari," I whispered his name, trying to wake him up.
"Hmm. Wassup? We made it home yet?"
Since we started dating, we called each other homes ours. It was too cute, and I loved it.
"No, we haven't made it home yet, but we are going to my house. I thought we were going to yours."
He ran a hand down his face and smirked, causing me to frown. When he did that, he was up to something or did something already.
"Akari!" I called his name in an accusing voice.
He threw his hands up with a laugh. "Man, nah. Don't call my name like that. I didn't do anything."
"Umhm. I don't believe you. I guess I'll have to wait and see what you do. You're always doing something."
He only laughed at me, and I didn't like that. I told him he didn't have to get me anything. But he was spoiling me. I loved all the gifts he had gotten me and would always cherish them.
When the driver pulled into my driveway, a car was in the driveway next to my other one.Who in the hell that was in my driveway?
"Do you know who that is?" I asked Akari.
He shook his head. "Nah, let's get out and see."
When we stepped out of the car, the door opened, and Antonio stepped out, too, with a smile on his face. He came straight to me and was about to give me the keys, but I took a step back. My confused eyes went to Akari, who only smiled at me. Antonio gave the keys to Akari and got in the car with the driver. I barely paid any attention after that. My only concern was Akari and what he did.
"Akari!" I screeched. "A car!"
He held his hands up. "It's an early birthday present."
"The hell it is. My birthday isn't for a few more months away. A Range Rover at that!"
"You told me one time your dream car was a Range Rover, so I decided to gift you one. It's custom-made with your favorite color, too. It'll be better to see tomorrow. C'mon and see what else I got you. I just want to spoil my girl, man."
Tears welled in my eyes. "But a car?"
"Yes, ma'am, a car. Your dream car." He came over and wrapped his arms around me. "I got you, baby. Whatever you want and need, your man's going to take care of you." He kissed my forehead. He opened the backseat of the car, and I went to look inside. It was a Coach bag and inside of the Coach bag was another box. And inside that box was a diamond necklace. The tears I was holding in slid down my face.
"You are too good to be true. Thank you so much, Akari. I don't know how I would ever repay you."
He squeezed me to him. "Just stay by my side. That's all I need you to do. Can you do that for me?"
"I can."
Now, I was starting to feel guilty for not believing in him and thinking he would cheat on me. I had to stop doubting him and put all of my trust in him and our relationship. Akari was my everything, and I loved him so much. He didn't know that I loved him, but I was afraid to say anything. I didn't want to jinx our happiness by blurting out how much he meant to me. I'd keep this to myself.
"You camea long way from getting this house cleaned. It's about done. Do you know what you are going to do with it yet?" I asked Avani as I moved some of the trash bags out of the way. We were at her childhood home doing some cleaning. She was almost finished with it. It took a while, but I knew she'd be done soon.
She placed her hands on her hips and peered around. "Yeah, I'm going to make it into a group home and add to it. The other one is getting overrun. This one will be for the smaller kids," she explained. "I plan to add more rooms to it."
I nodded, loving the way her mind worked. "I already know it's going to be great."
She beamed, staring around at her hard work. "Yeah, I can't wait to start getting my business license for it."
I wanted to tell Avani I could help her, but I decided not to. If she needed my help, she could always come to me. There was no way I'd turn her away if she needed it. Avani was an independent woman who liked to do things by herself. We had arguments about that a lot, but she never listened. It went in one ear and out the other with her. I gave up trying, but it still made me upset with her.
"Now I can use a big burger," she said with a sigh. We hadn't eaten since breakfast, so I could see why she wanted a burger. I was getting famished myself.
