“Tomorrow. Seven o’clock, Ms. Jones,” he concluded.
Pulling out his phone, he walked off in the direction of the elevator. I went back into my office and sat for twenty minutes before attempting to leave again. I didn’t want to risk running into him again.
My mind was working overtime trying to figure out what Mr. Franklin meant. I didn’t want to keep anything from Tre, but I knew I couldn’t tell him. Things were already bad and if I made things worse, I couldn’t live with that.
Knocking gently, I waited until Tre opened the door to his office. He pointed to the headset to let me know he was on a call. I nodded as I entered.
“Check the file again, Harrison,” he demanded, before hitting a button on the side of his earpiece. “Is it five already?”
“Almost five thirty,” I replied, forcing myself to look as cheery as possible.
He checked his watch. “Damn. This call is running later than expected. You’re leaving a little late today.”
I nodded. “Yeah, I had a couple of things I needed to do to prepare for the Tuesday meeting.”
Like hide from your father.
As if he could see my anxiety, he leaned down and kissed me. “What’s wrong?”
“Today has been a lot and I didn’t get much sleep last night. I think I’ll feel better after I eat and then sleep.”
He pressed the button on the side of his earpiece. “It was sent to you last week, so this is unacceptable. I’ll give you five more minutes. Find it,” he barked.
The forcefulness in his voice was sexy as hell but I was too wired to appreciate it fully.
Tapping the button again, he held one cheek in his left hand and caressed the other cheek with his right.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered. “It has been a lot and I hate that you’re in this position. Let me know what you want or need me to do. I don’t want you to feel anything but good.”
“Being in your arms is a start,” I told him as I pushed up to kiss him.
Wrapping his arms around my waist, he lifted me.
The last time he did that, he fucked me on the table. My entire body woke up. The worries and concerns were replaced by desire and lust in an instant.
When my feet touched the ground again, I was about to protest. But one of his arms let me go so I opened my eyes.
“Dammit Harrison,” Tre swore. “Are you not cut out for this? I present to the board on Friday and if I need to replace you, I will.”
He had so many things on his plate and as much as I would’ve loved for him to take time out of his schedule to fuck me, that wasn’t possible. He needed my support and even though I could feel his bulge pressed against my belly, he had things to do. Friday’s meeting with the board would be a game changer for him. I needed to just make sure whatever happened at the meeting with his father, Tre’s project couldn’t become collateral damage.
“I’m sorry, baby,” Tre apologized. “I have to handle this. Give me a few more minutes.”
I shook my head. “Take your time. I should get going anyway,” I told him.
With a sweet kiss goodbye, I waved at him as he started going in on Harrison.
“What do you mean you might have deleted it?” he yelled as I closed his office door.
I knew then I wouldn’t hear from him for the rest of the night. And that was probably for the best. I had my own problems that were consuming me.
Tre Franklin:I know you’re probably asleep already, but no matter what happens on Friday, I’d like to take you out on Saturday.
Imani Jones:Good morning! Yeah, I was knocked out around eight o’clock. I’m excited for our first official date. How are you?
I didn’t get a response back until I was in the car about to leave for work.
Tre Franklin:Hey, I’m better now. How are you?
