Chapter 6
“May I get you something to drink, Ms. Jones?” Josephine Reed, the Franklin executive assistant, asked me as I sat in the waiting area. “Water? Coffee? Or tea, perhaps?”
I startled slightly at the sound of her voice. “Oh yes, thank you. Coffee, please,” I answered stifling a yawn.
“Coffee to wake you up for your first day,” she said sweetly, winking. “Coming right up.”
I was tired as hell. I went to bed at six o’clock in the morning—right after Tre left. I’d gotten two hours of sleep before having to get up and get ready for work. And even though makeup masked the circles under my eyes, and I looked good in my black power pantsuit, I was exhausted.
Oh, but it was certainly worth it.
It was the best night of my life.
Closing my eyes, my belly quivered as I had a flashback of me riding Tre’s dick. Crossing my legs, I swallowed hard.
Focus. Focus. Focus.
I opened my eyes slowly.
Very few people were on the executive floor, but I tried to focus on the low-level buzz of people behind closed doors as a distraction.
My mouth opened wide as I yawned again.
I stopped breathing mid-yawn as I flashed back to how wide Tre’s dick stretched my mouth when I sucked him.
I squeezed my eyes shut. This is going to be the longest day of my life.
“You are going to have a great day,” Josephine told me as she handed me an oversized mug with the same phrase emblazoned on the side of it. “This is Mr. Franklin’s Tanzania coffee. It’s enough caffeine to get you through the day, but it tastes delicious.”
“Thank you,” I told her, grateful to be distracted by anything other than my thoughts.
“I didn’t get a lot of sleep before my first day either,” she told me. “Mr. Franklin can be pretty hard, but he’s kind and fair. He just likes things the way he likes things and he’s a stickler for the rules. So, I didn’t sleep a wink and then I got here and realized that I had worked myself up for nothing.” She smiled widely. “Today is going to be a good day for you.”
“Yes, it will. Thank you. I appreciate you sharing with me.”
The older woman went back to her desk, and I fought another yawn. Bringing the mug to my face, I let the heat waft up to my nose and I inhaled deeply. The first sip was sweet and creamy. The second was energizing. After the third sip, I felt more like I could handle the day ahead of me. Bringing the cup up to my nose, I breathed in professionalism and exhaled sexual thoughts.
I got this.
“Ms. Jones,” Mr. Franklin greeted me with his booming voice. “Come on in. We’re ready for you. You can leave your cup right there.” He turned to his assistant. “Josephine, can you bring us some refreshments, please? We are about to begin.”
As directed, I put down my cup and picked up my bag. “Good morning, Mr. Franklin.”
He extended his hand as I got close. “It’s good to see you this morning. Welcome to Franklin Financial.”
“I’m happy to be here,” I told him, giving him a firm shake.
I entered his office and tried not to react.
Tre’s office was impressive with its large window overlooking the garden. But Mr. Franklin’s office had a window that overlooked downtown Richland. It was truly a remarkable view.
“This is gorgeous, Mr. Franklin,” I acknowledged, making my way to the conference table.
He patted his barrel chest with pride. “Thank you. Please, have a seat.” He gestured to the seat closest to us so that was the one I took. “Let me introduce you to the rest of the team.”
“Good morning,” I said in a friendly tone to the man and woman already seated.
Next time I need to get here earlier so I don’t have to sit with my back to the door.
