“Nah, friends don’t fuck the way we did. Go get yo’ girl, mine just got here,” I said pointing to my woman walking through the gate.
She sported a cute lil’ white sundress that flowed to her ankles and some sandals. Onyx wore the same dress but in yellow, and Mel wore a romper. They were all beautiful stepping through the party. I grabbed Mel’s graduation present I put to the side and pushed through the thick crowd. I knew I needed a way to get in with Fade, so I figured why not.
Once I was spotted, I saw the nervousness in my baby’s eyes, and I felt offended. She acted as if I was a nigga she couldn’t be herself with. All I wanted was to vibe with her and hug on her freely. She had a nigga missing affectionate shit when that wasn’t even my cup of tea.
“Hey Chrome, the kids really showed up, huh?” Onyx greeted with a side hug.
“Yeah, they ain’t missing out on this. Z should be right behind me.”
“Cool. Friend, you good?” she asked Fade slowly stepping away. Fade only offered her a small nod.
“Here you go, Mel. I copped you a lil’ something for graduation. It ain’t much but it is what it is.” I handed over the bag that contained the shirt, the gift card, a purse from that Kirt nigga and the sandals to match. She deserved to be acknowledged for her hard work like everybody else.
“Really? Thank you,” she sang and went in for an around the neck hug. I wasn’t even ‘bout to let her disrespect her mama like that. I stopped her attention seeking ass dead in her tracks and stepped back. She wasn’t dumb by far, so she caught on quick as to why I did it. She kissed the back of her teeth and walked off.
“What is it, Chrome?” Fade’s soft voice catered to my cravings. A nigga missed the hell out of her angelic tone.
“A nigga can’t get no hug?”
She offered the same hug as Mel did and I was quick to take it. My arms snaked around her waist so goddamn fast… I had to seize the opportunity. My face was buried in her neck taking in her aroma. She smelled damned good and felt even better. Call me crazy, but I knew for a fact she missed me too. I could just feel that shit in my soul.
“You look good, Mama,” I complimented her after administering a kiss to her shoulders.
“Thank you, so do you.”
With her still in my embrace, I figured I’d let her know the real. I wasn’t a nigga to back down from shit no matter how challenging it was. Baby wasn’t making this easy at all.
“I missed you, Fade.” That remark wasn’t received the way I thought it would. She unwrapped herself and tried to take a step back, but I refused to let go.
“You’re creating an audience. Let me go Chrasmere.”
I swear every time she said a nigga name it made my dick hard. There wasn’t a bitch out here that could comfortably call me that other than her. Even Rini’s dumbass didn’t know mygovernment. Fade had it like nobody else and she still didn’t see how weak she made a nigga.
“Fuck them. Tell me why you not answering me when I hit you.”
“Because I never gave you my number in the first place. I know it was Onyx doing, but I’m not even gon’ fall out with her about it. Y’all creating a bond and I won’t stop it. If I wanted to continue anything further with you, I wouldn’t have ghosted you from day one. You’re not my type, Chrome.”
The temperature of my blood rose after every word she spat. Who the fuck she thought she was fooling? Every time I was in her presence, her body called out to me. Even now, I could smell her pheromones her body was releasing. That was ‘cause of me and how good I treated it. The way she looked at me said she loved me and that was just me being honest, not delusional. She was trying to convince herself that I wasn’t her match made in heaven and was failing terribly. When I met her, eye contact wasn’t a problem, but now all of a sudden it was. She didn’t have to lie to me, I knew where a nigga stood in her life, and it wasn’t on no fuck ass standby.
“Since when?” I questioned still having the luxury to hold her body close to mine.
“Since day one. We crossed a line because we were fucked up. All that shit is over with.”
“Who the fuck you think you talking to, Ma? You think I can’t hear yo’ heart beating outside yo’ fuckin’ chest right now? You think I ain’t picked up on the fact that you ain’t looked a nigga in the eye since I walked the fuck over here? Man gone head before you piss me off.”
“Chrasmere, you have women watching us and giving me all kinds of looks, which I don’t appreciate. I’ve sorted out my feelings and you need to do the same. Excuse me.” She removed my arms from around her waist and walked off.
My head fell to the side as a small smile graced my lips. A lil’ chuckle was released and for the first time, I felt like a woman was out of my reach. I wasn’t trying to accept the fact that maybe all it was, was a damned good one night stand. I mean, Fade was clinging onto me so much that night, I knew for a fact if she didn’t dip out that next morning, she would’ve told a nigga she loved me once I got in them guts again. Something or someone was ‘causing her to pump the brakes.
Wait, I know she ain’t gon’ do me like that. I know good and goddamn well she ain’t start fuckin’ with another nigga in my city. Stall me out, OG. I ain’t trying to send her home on a special delivery.
The thought of her dealing with anybody besides me had me by the reigns. Turning around, I yelled at her back not giving a fuck who was around. At the end of the day, that was mine. I wrote my name in that gushy shit, planted seeds in that muthafucka, then fell asleep in that bitch. Everything about that woman belonged to me.
“You fuckin’ somebody else? In my shit? Didn’t I fuckin’ warn you not to try me, Fade?”
My words hit her mid-stride. When she jerked around, her face was flushed. I embarrassed her ass.Good!
“You need to shut up,” she gritted through her teeth.
