“Of course.” Chase opened the photos on his phone. He scrolled for a while and then pulled up several pictures. He handed Lauren his phone.
She flipped through the pictures. Each photo was more impressive than the next. There was a beautiful pool with a waterslide, a huge gourmet kitchen, and expansive ocean views through walls of glass that stretched up two stories. “This place is like a mansion. This is your home?”
“It will beourhome soon.”
Lauren’s mind reeled at the thought. “You really are a lot wealthier than I realized.”
“I don’t really talk about it a lot.”
“I didn’t grow up that way. My grandmother was a simple woman. I don’t know how to be wealthy.”
“Don’t worry, it’s not hard.” Chase chuckled.
Lauren laughed. “This is going to take some getting used to.”
“If it’s too much, I can sell the place, and we can live a simpler life.”
“Oh, no. It’s not too much. I don’t mind getting used to that kind of lifestyle at all. I could get Rita to take over the salon, and I could live out there forever.”
“But you don’t have to. You can run your salon and achieve all the goals you set for yourself.”
“That means so much to me, Chase. I think I’d get bored sitting around that beach house after a while. I’d go stir crazy without something to do. And I’ve dreamed of making my salon successful for years. Now, thanks to the rebranding Jessie and I came up with this last week, it will finally be a reality.” And if she wanted to go to part-time, she could finally do that too.
“That’s incredible,” Chase said. “I can’t wait to watch you redecorate that salon and make it even more successful.”
Lauren’s heart overflowed with love for this amazing man. She looked up at him, and he bent down to kiss her. Being with him like this was heaven on earth. And there were only more days like this to come.
THE END
Epilogue
Alexis presented Chase and Lauren with three choices for a wedding cake for their big day. “Ready for choice number one?”
“Sure,” Lauren said.
“Okay, this one is a buttercream frosting with a lemon filling.” She handed a plate to both Lauren and Chase, and each of them tasted their slices of cake.
“That’s a possibility,” Chase said.
Lauren nodded as she chewed.
“Option two is a whipped frosting with strawberry filling.” She handed them new plates. “Keep in mind that you can mix and match any of the frostings and fillings. All the cakes are just a simple white cake, but if you want to change that up, we can do that too.”
“This one is really good,” Lauren said. “I like the filling.”
“You can’t go wrong with strawberry,” Chase agreed.
“Ready for option three?”
“Yep.”
“Bring it on.”
“Okay. This one is buttercream on buttercream. Just your basic traditional wedding cake.”
She handed them the new plates.
“Pretty simple.” Lauren chewed thoughtfully.
