They finished their food and headed over to the tuxedo store. The store attendants took their measurements, and after browsing for a few minutes and trying on several looks, Chase settled on a classic black tux with a black bowtie. Chase arranged for the tuxedos to be delivered to Maple Creek about a week before the wedding.

When they’d finished, he turned to Owen. “I’m glad that’s over with. It’s been hanging over my head for a while. Lauren’s had her dress picked out for months.”

“Why’d you wait until the last minute?” Owen asked.

“I was planning to get my tux from a place in Maple Creek, but when my manager heard about it, he threw a fit.”

Owen laughed. “Why doesn’t that surprise me?”

“I thought if Lauren could get her dress from Maple Creek, I’d be fine to shop there. Apparently, that isn’t the case. He wanted Lauren in something designer too, but she insisted on buying her own dress, and she’d already paid for it. She wanted to buy a dress from her friend Onyx anyway.”

“That doesn’t surprise me. Lauren is loyal to her friends’ businesses.”

“She is.”

Owen was loyal to his friends’ businesses too. That was why he’d been to visit Alexis’s bake shop. That and the fact that she was gorgeous, and he couldn’t stop thinking about her. But he wasn’t sure he wanted to think about what that could mean for him.
