“No. But it’s something I would have come up with.”
“What about the margarita cupcake?”
“I don’t have one of those either. It sounds gross to me.”
“I don’t think it sounds good either.”
“Let’s try it,” Alexis said.
She cut off two pieces and handed one to Owen, popping the other into her mouth.
She made a face. “This is disgusting.”
“I agree.”
“What was Vincent thinking?”
“Well, it probably won’t take very much for you to convince the citizens of Maple Creek that your desserts are far superior to those from Hadley’s.”
“You know what I need?” Alexis said.
“What’s that?”
“I need some new ideas.”
“New cupcake recipes?”
“Or even cookies, but not gross ones. I need something chocolate. Like toasted marshmallow s’mores for summer.”
“Or rocky road cookies.”
“That sounds delicious.”
Alexis pulled out her phone and started taking notes. “These are great ideas.”
“I can’t believe my pastry chef has been copying you like this.”
“I’ve actually seen some of my regulars across the street walking into Hadley’s.”
“Let’s get this taken care of right now.” Owen waved down Trisha.
“Is everything all right?”
“Yeah. Everything’s great. I’d just like to say hi to Dave for a minute. Can you go grab him?”
“Of course.”
A few moments later, a man approached the table.
“Hey, Dave, thanks for coming out. This is Alexis. She and I grew up together.”
Dave smiled at her. “It’s nice to meet you.”
“It’s nice to meet you, too,” Alexis said.
Dave turned to Owen. “What can I do for you?”
“I’m a little concerned about the dessert menu.”
