“I’ve been too focused on my career to have time for a relationship.”
“Agreed,” Tessa said. “I’m with you there.”
“You’ve never had a relationship either?” Owen asked Tessa.
“Nope. Like Alexis, I’ve been too busy focusing on my career. I’d love to get in with a big newspaper one day. As much as I love reporting for Maple Creek, it doesn’t pay all that well.”
“How’s the bakery doing?” he asked Alexis.
“We’re chugging along.”
“I’ll have to stop by and try your muffins again. The last time I had them, they were delicious.”
“Feel free,” Alexis said. “We always have plenty of muffins.”
“Well, I’d better get going,” Owen said, standing. He had plenty of other guests to greet. He spotted Chase and Lauren walking in the front doors.
“Have a great night,” Alexis said. “I’m sure we’ll be seeing plenty of you here soon.”
“You, too.” He turned toward the rest of the restaurant. He couldn’t deny that he was looking forward to seeing more of Alexis and her beautiful, dark eyes.
