“Would you be interested in picking up some new clients? They’re all based out of California. I’ve taken the liberty of looking you up online, and I see that you’re based out of Maple Creek. You would have to travel, but we would make sure you were compensated for that. Is that something you might consider?”

“Absolutely,” Alexis said. “I would be delighted to hear more about that.”

“Fantastic!” Chelsea handed her a business card. “This is my information.”

“Oh, thank you.” Alexis took the card and tucked it into the clutch she was carrying with her.

“Please reach out to me after the wedding, and I’d be happy to set up an initial appointment.”

“That would be wonderful. I’d be more than happy to set that up with you.”

“Great. Well, I look forward to hearing from you then.”

“It was nice to meet you.”

Chelsea smiled at her. “Nice to meet you too.” She walked away, and Alexis turned to Owen.

“What just happened?” Her jaw fell open. “I can’t believe this is real.”

“I have a feeling this is the start of something new for you.”

“This is because of what you said, isn’t it?”

“When I recommended you to a room full of celebrities and journalists? Yeah, it probably had something to do with that.”

“You just took your secret plan to a whole new level.”

“Well, it’s not so secret anymore, but yeah.”

“I love you, Owen Hadley.”

“I love you too, Alexis Remington.”

“Alexis Remington?”

Alexis turned to see a petite blonde who looked so skinny she might fall over if you bumped into her. “Hi, can I help you?”

“I’m Paisley Richards. I run an online wedding talk show. Would you be interested in coming onto my show with your cakes?”

“Let me guess, you’re based out of California?” Alexis asked.

“That’s right.” She handed her a card. “Here’s my information. You can check out my show at the website listed on the card below.”

“Thank you,” Alexis said. “This is fantastic. I would love to check out your wedding show. And I would be honored to attend.”

“As long as it fits into her schedule,” Owen interjected. “Ms. Remington is a very busy woman.”

Paisley’s eyes got wide when she looked at Owen. “Of course, Mr. Hadley. Thank you for your time.” She stepped back.

“What was that all about?” Alexis asked when Paisley left.

“If you’re picking up celebrity clients, your schedule is going to fill up pretty quickly. You can’t just assume that you’ll be available for every interview that comes along.”

“You really think my schedule is going to fill up that fast?”

“You have no idea what just happened for your career.”

Alexis smiled at him. “Would your little speech have something to do with the fact that you want me to move to California?”
