“Me too.”
Their plane landed, and they got their luggage and grabbed a taxi. Benson loved watching Tessa’s awe as they drove through the city. She looked up at the buildings like she wanted to see where the tops of them were.
“You’re going to strain your neck if you keep looking up like that,” he teased.
“Everything’s so much bigger than I’d imagined.”
Benson chuckled. “I’m glad you’re finally getting to experience it.”
“There’s so much going on. I like the energy of this place.”
“I’m not sure I ever get used to it,” Benson said. “But that’s a good thing. There’s always something interesting going on.”
They pulled up to his building, and Benson pulled out his luggage. They took the elevator to the twenty-seventh floor, and then Benson showed Tessa to his door. He opened it and led her inside.
“Benson!” She gasped. “This is gorgeous!” She slid her hand across the granite countertop. “I love it so much.”
But would it be enough to get her to stay? Could she overlook his feelings for Megan?
“This place is just perfect.”
“Ready for the grand tour?” he asked her.
“Yes! Absolutely.”
He walked with her through the two-story apartment, showing her all the nooks and crannies and the various upgrades the place had.
“This is the guest bedroom.” He pushed open the door. A king-sized bed sat in the center of the room. “How nice.”
“You’d have to go down the hall for the bathroom.” He walked down to the next door. “It’s right here.” He pushed open the door.
“It’s a little sparse in here,” Tessa said. “It needs a woman’s touch.”
“I never did claim to be much of a decorator.”
Tessa laughed.
He pushed open the door to the third bedroom. “This is the workout room.”
“I like it.” Tessa walked inside. “You have weights in here and everything.”
“Yep.”
He walked to the master bedroom. “This is my room.” A gray comforter spread across the king-size bed. The room was pretty simple. Besides a dresser and nightstands, he didn’t have much else in there. They walked inside. “I have my own bathroom as well.” He pushed open the door.
“Everything is so clean,” Tessa said. “You don’t even have junk lying around.”
“I tend to keep my stuff put away.”
“I’m not even this clean,” Tessa admitted.
“I do have people that clean my place.”
“But you can hardly tell anyone lives here.”
Benson shrugged. “If I get something out, I put it away when I’m done. If I don’t have a use for it, I get rid of it.”
“You’re going to think I’m a cluttered mess.”
