Page 14 of My Twin Sister's Ex

“Jackilyn’s twin.”

“Oh, right.”

“Mr. Brownley assigned us a marriage proposal scene. We have to kiss and everything. Multiple times.”

“That doesn’t sound so bad to me,” my uncle joked.

I felt my cheeks flush. He was right. It wasn’t going to be bad at all. But that was why I was in big trouble. It would have been no big deal if Jessilyn was average-looking. But she was drop-dead gorgeous. Just thinking about kissing her made my toes curl. “But she’s my ex-girlfriend’s twin.”

“So what? At least you know you’re attracted to her.”

“Jackilyn won’t be happy about this,” I said.

“What’s she going to do about it? You’re doing a school assignment. It’s not like you can help it,” he teased.

“Stop grinning like that.” I groaned. “You’re only making things worse.”

“Worse? It sounds like a great situation to me. How many guys get to kiss the hottest girl in schoolandher identical twin sister?”

“I can’t believe you just said that!” I protested.

He laughed. “I don’t know what you’re so worried about. I’d be in a great mood.”

“I’m sure she won’t want to kiss me.”

“But she has to for the school assignment, right?” Uncle Ryan said.

“I guess.”

A wide smile crossed his features. “Why didn’t I think to take drama in high school?”

“From what I’ve heard, you didn’t need to take drama to kiss plenty of girls in high school.”

He chuckled. “You’re actually right about that.”

He still hadn’t settled down. Uncle Ryan had a different woman on his arm every weekend. He was a master at charming women. He probably even had the little old ladies melting into pools of goo at his feet.

“So, you’re worried that you’ll kiss Jessilyn for this scene, and it will make her sister mad or something?”

“I know it will make her mad. She’s not the most understanding person.” That was a massive understatement. Jackilyn was a total diva. She wouldn’t like seeing Jessilyn in the spotlight, and especially not with me declaring my undying love to her. Even if we were only pretending. That wouldn’t matter to Jackilyn. She was always looking for something to be mad about. This would be the perfect excuse for her to throw a royal fit.

“How does Jessilyn feel about it?”

“I don’t know,” I admitted. “I haven’t even talked to her about it yet.”

“Why not? Are you scared?” my uncle teased.

“No,” I scoffed. “I just haven’t had a chance to talk to her about it.”

“Are you feeling awkward about it?”

“Nope. I have everything under control.”

“Do you want me to call her for you? Because I can do that.” He snatched my phone from my back pocket before I could stop him.

“Hey, give that back.”

He scrolled through my contacts. “What’s her name again? Oh yeah. Jessilyn.”
