“Deal.”

Our food came, and we sat for a few quiet moments, eating and enjoying our meal. I couldn’t believe that this amazing girl wanted to be with me. Our kissing scenes were about to get a whole lot less awkward, and we were about to get a lot more practice in.

“The food here is amazing,” Jessilyn said.

“I come here a lot.”

“I want to come here a lot with you,” she said.

“It can be our place.”

“Definitely. It’s where we got together. And our first date.”

She was talking like we had a future. My heart pounded faster. I could see that working out for us. But it wouldn’t go well when Jackilyn found out. And if we planned to stay together, it would only be a matter of time before that happened. We wouldn’t be able to hide it from her for long.

I understood why she wanted to keep our relationship quiet, but Jessilyn deserved better than a relationship filled with secrecy. Her parents may not approve of me, but I would do my best to show them that I cared about and respected their daughter. That was what really mattered anyway. I could be taking college prep classes with a 4.0 and treat her like garbage. I knew a few guys like that. They looked good on paper but were real jerks. Too many good girls ended up with guys like that because they were the type of guys girls thought would impress their parents.

I may not look good on paper, but she would never have an ounce of disrespect from me.
