At that moment, he needed a protector and a compassionate man.

“No. I’m fine. A little shaken, but fine.”

Staring at the tall and solid man, the first thought that entered Lucas’s mind washero. How many people can say that they had a gorgeous man come running to their rescue and tackle their attacker?

If this were a rom-com, it would be the meet-cute that everyone talked about.

“Big, strong man comes to quirky man’s rescue,” the caption would read.

“Still, you should probably get yourself checked out by a doctor. What if you have a concussion or whiplash or something? We can’t have a cute guy like you suddenly falling or passing out on his way home.”

Cute guy?

Lucas blushed. He wasn’t used to hot men calling him cute.

If someone were to ask him what his ideal type of man was, it would undoubtedly be the man standing right in front of him.

Tall, dark, and courageous. Willing to take care of him and ready to jump in to defend the man he loves.

Could his dick get any harder?

As if the mystery man somehow sensed his dirty thoughts, the man gave him a cocky smirk.

“I’m Darryl,” his savior announced, raising his hand toward Lucas’s.

“I’m Lucas.”

They both smiled, temporarily lost in each other’s eyes.

Yup, he was definitely falling for this hunky specimen of a man.

“Thank you for saving my bags. You really are a hero.”

Darryl smiled. His teeth were white and perfect, undoubtedly the result of excellent oral hygiene and regular visits to the dentist.

Standing there, with the sun beating down on their faces, Lucas couldn’t help but notice… something. Something just behind the dazzling chestnut eyes of his newest favorite hero. Something…

Was it cockiness?

There was something about the way that Darryl was looking at him… like he knew that Lucas was weak and basically ready to lie down and spread his legs for him.

Take me now, you massive stud. Have me any which way you want me.

Perhaps Darryl was sensing his enormous attraction to him. That would make any man cocky as shit.

“It’s not every day that I get to rescue such a sexy-looking guy,” Darryl noted, giving Lucas a slow once-over, which, of course, ended with a smug smirk.

Yeah, the guy definitely knew how to flirt.

“Now. As your hero, I insist that you let me take you to lunch. A traumatic experience like that deserves a drink or two.”

Lucas’s face lit up. He would gladly do just about anything if Darryl asked him to. His hormones were racing, and the man appeared to be the embodiment of every sexual fantasy he ever had since puberty.

“Well, how can I refuse such a charming man?”

Picking up Lucas’s bags, Darryl took his hand in his and began leading him up the pier toward the spot where a police officer was placing the would-be thief in handcuffs.

They spent the next six hours enjoying food and drinks while discussing their past experiences with the art of love. It seemed that neither had been very lucky in that department.
