“No. Marcus isn’t like that. He asked you to fix this because it needed fixing. He might come across as all mean and angry, but deep down, he really is just a big fluffy love ball.”
Lucas chuckled, lowering his gaze.
It was a shame that the boy didn’t have more confidence when speaking with others. His smile alone could warm a room.
“Don’t tell the boss I said that. Otherwise, he’ll have me scrubbing toilets for a month,” Caden joked, leaning in closer and breathing in the boy’s scent.
He kind of smelled like cherry blossoms—or what he had been told cherry blossoms would smell like because, once again, he had balls.
They both chuckled.
“Well, I guess this is the second time that you’ve come to my rescue,” Lucas noted.
“Yeah, well, let’s keep that between us. I have a reputation to maintain. Let’s just say that fear and intimidation make working as a bouncer much easier when trying to keep guys in line.”
“Given the size of your arms, I’m sure you will always be intimidating.” The boy’s eyes widened, and his cheeks flushed when he realized what he had just said. “Your secret’s safe with me,” he quickly added before making his way around the pool table and throwing the extra tools back into the tool case used by the bar for minor repairs.
Bending over the pool table, Lucas’s shirt rode up, exposing a tiny bit of flesh on his lower back and just a hint of tiny butt crack.
Caden stared at Lucas’s exposed skin and wondered what it would feel like to grab the boy by the hips and fuck him hard, bent over the pool table.
What was that?
Caden took a step back, his heart pounding in his chest.
He’d never once fantasized about fucking another dude!
Sure, he could admit when a guy was good-looking or physically attractive, but he never once thought about caressing a man’s skin or dragging his fingers along another man’s pouty red lips.
Whoa! What the fuck was happening?
He was straight and had never before wondered such things.
Suddenly, he felt nervous.
What’s going on?
“Umm, I should probably get back to my post,” Caden rushed without looking up at the boy. He was too afraid that Lucas might see all of the dirty thoughts currently racing through his brain.
Dirty, rough, and nasty things.
He tried to swallow, but his mouth was suddenly bone dry. He needed to get out of there.
Before his thoughts had another chance to ambush him, he rushed toward the front door as quickly as possible.

CADEN
Seventeen Years Ago
“Caden!” his father’s voice boomed from the living room. “Get your ass out here!”
Letting out a huff, Caden slammed his textbook shut and jumped off his bed. This was the third time in an hour his old man had asked for his assistance. There was no way he was going to get this last chapter read before he passed out on his bed from exhaustion.
It was almost midnight, and he had been doing that head-bob thing you do when your eyes fall shut and your head suddenly weighs a thousand pounds. He swore the last time he nearly snapped his neck when his head suddenly fell forward.
Oh well. It was just another assignment that he wasn’t going to get done. What were his teachers going to do? Fail him? Schools weren’t allowed to fail students anymore. Something about it hurting their self-esteem or something.
