“Good morning, sweetie,” Tessa says as she gives him a hug.
“Good morning, Tessa. I see I’m late for the meeting,” Weston says as he sets his bag down and surveys the room.
“Just having breakfast and shop talk,” I muse.
“What do you think about our brother buying Wilder Ranch?” Jenna asks as she sips her coffee.
Weston says, “I think if it keeps developers away from our ranch and water sources, I’m a fan.”
Tessa nods. “That is true. We have to protect that end of the ranch.”
“Are you ready to find a wife?” Jenna asks as she refills her coffee cup.
I scoff. “I’mnotfinding a wife. You said the show is scripted and for views.”
Jenna grins and reaches for another piece of toast. “You have to at least pretend. The women are great. I think you’ll have fun.”
I give her a look of disdain. “No. I won’t.”
I haven’t been on a date in over a year. Much to Cami’s dismay and her giving me crap about being with half of Wyoming, that’s far from the truth. I haven’t been with anyone in a very long time. In fact, since I came back to Bridger Falls, I haven’t even looked at another woman besides Cami. It’s hard to imagine being with anyone but her. Go figure. The one woman who doesn’t want anything to do with me in that way, I can’t stop thinking about and picturing a life with.
She’s on my mind constantly. And I can’t handle any more complications. But for the ranch and for Cami’s ranch, I’ll play a role.
“We’ll see, grumpy bear,” Jenna says with a smirk.
Weston slides onto his stool, opens his bag, pulls out a folder, and hands it to me.
“Thanks again for handling all of that,” I say as I set the folder down next to me.
“Sure,” Weston says. “Now, just let us know if we should be planning your funeral when Cami finds out.”
“Cami is so going to kill you,” Jenna says as she shakes her head.
I scoff. “When I explain everything, I’m sure she’ll understand.””
Jenna looks at me like I’m in delulu land. “Right.” She pours another cup of coffee and hands it to Weston.
“You’ll see,” I say, as I finish my food.
“Yourfuneral, buddy. I’m going to get ready. We’re setting up and filming a few clips around town today. I emailed you the filming schedule. Make sure you all are ready and on the same page with all of it,” she calls as she heads out.
“Speaking of filming. We have stagers coming in today to stage the lodge for the show. It’s going to be busy here. Tucker’s staying at the bunkhouse. He likes it better down there. Just a heads up,” Weston tells me as he pulls up the schedule on his laptop.
I groan. This house is already the worst. Now we’re going to have even more strangers traipsing through it. I hate this place.
"You're lucky the contestants are staying at the Dogwood in town. Maggie is glad to have the business, but if you want, I can have them all stay here," he says smugly.
“You could always stay at your other house,” Tessa chirps.
“What other house?” I ask confused.
“The Wilder house,” she says with a grin. “Although living with another woman might not help your chances of finding a wife on the show.”
“I’mnotfinding a wife.” I roll my eyes.
But staying at Cami’s does sound more appealing than staying here and dealing with the crew filming here. And I can keep a closer eye on her since Granger and Jace have been up to bullshit with fence cutting and threats. Hell, even staying in her barn sounds better than staying here. I'm sure Ollie would appreciate it if I kept an eye on things.
I need to somehow convince Cami to let me stay there. I could stay in Ollie’s old room. Maybe she wouldn’t even realize I’m there.
