Feeling lighter than she had in a long time, Kara climbed on behind him and leaned in, ready to enjoy the night.

When they got home,Kara was still flying on cloud nine from her encounter with Lizzie. She bounced into the house and right into Johnny’s arms with a smile on her face.

“What’s got you so excited?” he asked as he slid his hands around her hips and laced his fingers together at her lower back. He pulled her body flush against his and stared down at her with those sinful deep blue eyes.

He was still dressed in a black work shirt and sawdust was sprinkled over him. He had on a backward black baseball, and his blond beard was trimmed shorter than usual, not so scruffy but still enough to run her fingers through. He looked fantastic, as all her men always did, but the pregnancy hormones were definitely amping up as she stared up at him with her heart racing.

“You are a brilliant man, Johnathan Taylor,” she told him and rose up on her tippy-toes to press a kiss to his lips.

He chuckled lightly as he kissed her back. “Well, we already knew that. But what really has you so happy?”

“You needed blueprints, and it made me think about my father’s house. So we got the blueprints for there too,” she told him.

Shock widened his eyes. “Fuck yes!” he exclaimed and picked her up in a bear hug. “Quick thinking, Princess. I fucking love that about you.”

She laughed and kissed him again as he spun her around. “Where’s Kevin?” she asked when they pulled apart.

“In the shower,” Johnny answered and set her back on her feet.

Kara smiled and slid onto a barstool at the kitchen island. “What’s for dinner?” she asked, looking at the stove where Johnny had clearly been cooking before they came home.

“Pork chops,” Johnny replied and moved toward the stove. “Anything else happen today?”

“I ran into an old friend from high school. Lizzie. I haven’t seen her since we both left for college,” Kara told him. Then she launched into their plan for lunch on Saturday.

Johnny listened as she rambled on, a smile on his face while he stirred veggies on the stove. Once the food was under control, he walked around the island and wrapped his arms around her again. He stood behind her, his front pressed to her back, pulling her tight against him. “I’m glad you’re happy, Princess.”

Kara smiled and soaked up his warmth. “Me too. I’ve been stressing too much lately,” she quietly admitted.

Johnny rubbed her arms and pressed a kiss to the crown of her head. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” She sighed and reached up to squeeze his forearms.

Johnny and the boys had spent the evening poring over the blueprints for her father’s house. In the end, they found exactly what they were looking for: several rooms were on the blueprints that were not visible or noticeable while in the house.

Kara made a call to District Attorney Lacey Winters. They would need a search warrant to enter the house if they wanted anything they found to hold up in court. Lacey promised she would get her that warrant.

By nine the following morning, they had the warrant. So, bright and early, they let themselves into her father’s house armed with sledgehammers and pry bars—and a team of police officers—and got to work. There were three hidden rooms shown on the blueprints, but there were also a couple questionable areas that the boys wanted to check, places where there was lots of dead space listed on the drawing but where something could possibly be hidden.

Kara mostly stood back and watched her sexy men demo her father’s house. Heavy sledgehammers swung and drywall shattered, large gaping holes being left behind. For every wall they opened, Kara grew more agitated when they didn’t find anything.

Well, they did find things—small safes full of jewels and guns, a shit ton of guns—but they didn’t find documents or ways to open the three very large vaults they found.

Kara sighed and looked around at the mess they had made. Chunks of drywall littered the floor; dust covered everything, including her guys. Sweat made their shirts cling to them likesecond skin. She couldn’t help but stare at the three of them as their muscles bulged and sweat glistened on tattooed skin. They were hotter than fire.

Derrick smirked at her. He had just lifted the hem of his shirt to wipe the sweat from his face when he caught her staring at his abs.

She loved that her men were so toned and fit.

“What’s on your mind, baby girl?” Derrick asked, his voice dropping an octave.

Kara let her gaze roam lazily over his sweaty body before she met his sparkling green eyes. A smug grin greeted her, and she smiled lazily. “Just enjoying the view.”

Derrick laughed. “I’m sure you are, baby girl.”

“You guys know how to get into those vaults?” Kara asked, changing the subject.

“I already called Jack,” Kevin said, lifting his shoulder to wipe his face on his sleeve. “He knows a guy. They’ll be here soon.”
