He smirked, then leaned down and kissed her slowly. Instead of the peck she was expecting, he sucked her bottom lip into his mouth and bit down gently.

She moaned, and her heart rate monitor started beeping faster.

The door opened while Derrick was still kissing her. “Am I going to have to ask you boys to leave?” Jade asked.

Kara giggled as she pulled away from Derrick. “No, ma’am, we’ll be good.”

Jade smirked. “Somehow I doubt that very much.”

Soft laughter floated around the room and Kara sighed.

Jade walked out again, and Marcos shifted. “I’m gonna go check on Dagger,” he said.

“What happened to Nico?” Kara asked.

“He was shot in the shoulder. He’s in surgery,” Marcos replied. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her forehead. “I’ll be back, lilManita,” he murmured.

Kara looked at her guys when her brother was gone and held out her hands. They immediately moved forward, positioning their chairs as close to her as possible and grabbing hands or her ankle again. “When can I go home?”

“Depends on the doctor,” Kevin said, rubbing her hand.

“How were your ribs cracked?” Johnny asked softly, squeezing her ankle.

“I fought back. They tried moving me out of the room a couple times. The first time, I kneed one of the guys in the balls, and they backed off after choking me…” There was a chorus of cursing and growling from her men. She squeezed Derrick’s and Kevin’s hands. “The second time, I had been sleeping and one tried to grab me. I fought back. He punched me in the ribs…” Again, her men growled. She pulled her hands back so she could fidget with the blanket instead. “I told him I was pregnant, and he left me alone after that.”

“We should have gone through there and wiped them all out,” Johnny said, shaking his head.

“We still can,” Derrick said darkly.

Kara’s heart rate spiked, and the monitor started beeping loudly again.

The door opened and Jade walked in holding a tray of food. She had a stern expression on her face as she walked over to the rolling table and set the food down. “Alright friends, this is your last warning. Kara, you need to rest and stay calm. The boys will have to leave if we can’t achieve that.”

Kara sighed and nodded. “Can they stay the night if we behave?” she asked.

Jade frowned. “ICU rules state only one guest at a time, period.”

Kara’s heart rate spiked again, and Jade narrowed her eyes at the machine. “I need them to stay, all of them,” Kara said softly.

Jade’s green eyes softened in understanding. “Like I said, calm and rest and I didn’t see anything.”

“Yes, ma’am.” Kevin smiled and nodded at the nurse.

Kara pulled the table closer and dug into her meager dinner. She hoped she could get real food soon, but judging by the size of the horse pills in a cup on the tray, she would be dozing off relatively soon.

Marcos let out aslow breath as he walked out of Kara’s hospital room. She was alive, she was safe, and she was protected. It was more than he could ask for. His nerves were still rattled after the insane rescue mission they had performed.

He sent up a prayer of thanks to whomever was listening, thankful they had gotten out alive. He was also grateful Axel, Blaze, and Phoenix had been waiting on standby. In the end, they had needed not only the three of them as backup but also Welder and Hotrod.

They had killed many Las Serpientes and had gotten out with minimal damage. The van had been a lifesaver when it came to transporting both Kara and Dagger to the hospital. Kara had passed out shortly after Devil had lifted her into his arms, and Dagger was shot in the shoulder, unable to ride.

The doctor had been optimistic that the bullet hadn’t nicked any of the major arteries in Dagger’s shoulder, which was a miracle. But it had broken his clavicle into three pieces. It required extensive surgery to repair, so Dagger wasn’t out of the woods just yet.

Marcos was just thankful his brother and sister were alive. He sighed and took a left down the hall. Kara had been set up in the ICU due to her severe dehydration and concerns for the baby. It had terrified the shit out of Marcos at first, but after seeing her awake, he could appreciate the caution.

He hit the stairs and headed up a floor to the surgical waiting room. Stone was camped out in a corner chair, his leg bouncing up and down. He looked fucking wrecked. “Any update?” Marcos asked.

Stone ran a hand over his short blond hair and shook his head. The man was usually quiet, so it didn’t faze Marcos when he didn’t speak.
