She exhaled and sighed, “Yes.”

Her blunt answer made me groan.“God, you slay me.”

In reply, she shifted her hips, riding my fingers.“You mean, I make you combust,” she argued huskily.“Right up in flames… Poof.”

“That too,” I panted, pulling free so I could spin her around to face me.

Hiking her onto my lap to straddle my thighs, I slanted my mouth over hers, tongue thrusting just as a voice called, “Keene?”

Makayla and I both froze.

“Keene?Where the hell are you?”

“Shit,” I breathed, patting down Makayla’s skirt over her hips while she scurried off me and similarly smoothed down my shirt with her hands.

As we pushed our way to our feet, I called back to the voice.“I’m right here.Who’s there?”

“It’s Makayla,” the irritated voice answered, drawing closer.“Who do you think?”

I zipped my face toward the newcomer, barely able to see a form approaching through the dark.“Saywhat?”

“I’ve been looking for youeverywhere,” she muttered, clearly annoyed.“Why didn’t you come find me?It’s beenwayover five minutes.”

“Five…” Skin prickling with goosebumps, I slowly turned back to the female standing right in front of me.

I’m not who you think I am.

“Holy shit,” I gasped in utter shock when she eased a guilty step back, already slinking away.“You’re not Makayla.”

KEENE

The girl I’d just hooked up with in the dark said nothing.

For a beat, she didn’t even move. Then, with a gasp, she darted away from me, moving so fucking fast she reached the edge of the gazebo where the steps began before I realized she was even getting away.

“Hey!”I shouted, diving after her.

I caught her on the first step and yanked her back against me.She screamed and tried to break loose.

“Let me go.”

Yeah, I don’t think so.

“Who the fuckareyou?”I growled, completely outraged.

I mean, how dare she?I thought I’d been with Makayla this whole time—Makayla whose last name I suddenly realized I didn’t even know.

I’d been starting to feel things for her, though.Things I didn’t just go feeling for girls I fooled around with.

And she wasn’t evenMakayla?

I mean, what kind of bullshit was that?

I felt betrayed and tricked and—and stupid.

Because how the hell had I not fucking realized she wasn’t Makayla?
