Kira was stone-faced. “She’s right.”
“We’re just friends.” It was an intriguing thought. Gia glanced in the direction Seth had gone. “I’ll be honest—I really like him, but just as a person. I mean, he’s sweet and he’s thoughtful and he’s smart.”
Kira smiled. “Uh-huh. Now we’re talkin’.”
“But we have a professional relationship—and maybe a friendship.” Could he ever be more? She had to admit it—she did find herself attracted to him, and that hadn’t happened in a long time. Still, she had to be smart. Not only could it jeopardize her career, considering Noreen’s current watchful eye, things could suddenly become very uncomfortable if she were to fall for him and he didn’t reciprocate. She couldn’t take that chance.
“But how often does a guy like this come along, seriously?” Kira reasoned.
She had a point. Good looks, brains, and a great personality—guys like Seth weren’t easy to find.
Gia knew Courtney was a bit more reserved than Kira. “What do you think, Court?”
Courtney nodded. “I agree with Kira. I think it’s fine. Maybe just keep it quiet in front of your coworkers. That’s all.”
If anything were to happen, she wouldn’t let her coworkers—or her boss—know about itat all.
“Okay. Well, thanks, girls, but now you’ve got me all nervous!”
“That’s the spirit.” Kira grinned. They reached Kira’s car and Kira unlocked it.
“Oh, don’t be nervous, sweetie.” Courtney patted Gia on the arm. “You’ve got nothing to worry about. Just give it a chance.”
“We’ll see.” Now, if she could only wipe the dumb grin from her face.
