“So I was just thinking about you…” he said.

“Were you?” She chewed on a fingernail.

“Actually, I’ve been thinking about you all day. But in this instance, I was thinking about when I get to see you next, and how I want to take youeverywherearound here. I haven’t had a chance to go anywhere since I’ve been back. Do you want to take a little road trip? I mean—just a day trip, around the peninsula?”

Did she, ever! “I would love to! There are so many places I’ve seen just in passing when I’ve worked weddings and other events, but I never get to stop and really check them out. Could we do that?”

“That’s exactly what I was hoping you’d say.”

“Okay, so what did you have in mind?”

“Well, a lot of things, actually, but—my first idea was to explore the wineries around here. I’ve been dying to see what’s been going on locally since I’ve been gone for so many years.”

“Keep talking.” Gia smiled. “I love the sound of that.”

“Have you been to any of the wineries on the Door County Wine Trail besides ours?”

“I haven’t, and I would love to check them out!” Wine-tasting with her own private wine expert. How lucky was she?

“Great! Are you free on Saturday?”

“Yes, I actually am. I don’t have any weddings that I need to help with this Saturday, which is so rare right now. I’ve got one Friday and one Sunday, though.”

“Okay, well that works out perfectly. I’ll pick you up at eleven? We should have time to visit two of them, probably, and make another stop or two, plus dinner. I promise I won’t have you back too late.”

It sounded so romantic. Gia sat down at her kitchen table. “That sounds great. I’ll see you at eleven.”

“Cool. But hey, can I see you before then? I’m not sure I can wait four whole days.”

He wasn’t the only one. “I was just thinking the same thing.”

He chuckled. “Good. How’s Thursday after work? Maybe we can just take a walk or something?”

Oh, if he didn’t know how to treat a lady! “I would love that. But I’ll make us a quick dinner first. Nothing fancy. Come over around six thirty.”

“All right, now you’re spoiling me.”

Gia couldn’t stop grinning. “Someone’s got to.”

“How did I get so lucky?” Seth’s tone was sweet.

“I could ask you the same thing.” Her heart raced. She thought she might burst at the seams.

“Okay, thanks. I would love that. I’ll see you Thursday, then.”

Seth stoodin Gia’s doorway in a pair of Bermuda shorts and a cream-colored linen shirt on Thursday evening, holding a bouquet of colorful flowers.

“They’re beautiful! That was so sweet of you. Thank you!” What a romantic gesture. How lucky was she?

He kissed her softly and she took the flowers from him, beaming.

“It smells so good in here. What did you make?”

“Just my balsamic honey-glazed chicken. Do you like chicken?”

“Do I like chicken? Of course I like chicken.”
