I gripped the tree trunk, preparing for him to go deeper. I didn’t move a muscle, just let him go as deep as he needed. That wasn’t very deep at all. He was still looking out for me, even as his orgasm took over all his senses.
This time, he cried out even louder. “Aaahhh!”
If Dayton and Vanessa were anywhere within a half mile or so, they’d hear that. Heck, noise could travel even farther than that in the woods, couldn’t it?
But my friend wouldn’t know it was me out here. There’s no way she’d know unless she stumbled upon us coming back down the trail.
Finally, he stilled, and I was left thinking about what came next. What if he’d had his fill and didn’t want anything more to do with me? Even if he did, how were we going to work this out? Would he want me to move here for him? WouldIwant to move here for him? There were worse places I could live than Seduction Summit. In fact, it was beautiful. And since my best friend was apparently relocating here, it wasn’t like I’d be moving somewhere where I knew no one besides this man.
“Get on the ground,” he said. “I’m going to make you come again.”
Oh, God. How was it possible I was already feeling warmth down there? He’d pulled out, but the pain was still there. It was mixed with a tingling now.
I’d opened my mouth to answer, but laughter interrupted me. It was a distinctive sound. A sound I’d know anywhere.
That was my best friend’s laugh. And she wasn’t far away.

Fuck.
I was about to give Gennie a third orgasm when it was clear we had company. It was fine, though. I’d get rid of whoever it was.
We were both scrambling for our clothes as the voices got closer. I recognized the male voice right away. It was Dayton. Our friends were going to catch us out here in the nude.
Not that I cared all that much, but I wanted to protect Gennie. She probably didn’t want to be caught like this. So, I grabbed all her clothes before I started putting on my own. I actually had everything but my shirt on by the time the crunch of footsteps on the dirt path got loud enough for me to know they were coming around the curve.
“We found you,” I called out, shoving my T-shirt into my pocket. It would be wrinkled as all get-out, but it would make more sense that I’d been walking around out here shirtless than that I was suddenly trying to put it back on.
Dayton, along with the woman I assumed was Gennie’s friend, came to a stop just in front of me. The woman was looking past me, at something off to my left.
“Gennie?” the woman asked.
I hadn’t even glanced back to make sure Gennie was dressed. If not, I’d hoped standing here would block her from view long enough. But when I turned, she was fully dressed, looking like nothing at all had happened. I was impressed with how quickly she’d pulled herself together.
“You haven’t been answering my texts, Vanessa,” Gennie said. “I even tried calling you.”
I turned back around to look at the happy couple in front of me. Dayton looked even more confused than his new girlfriend. That made sense. He was just enjoying a hike with his girl when he came across his buddy and this woman who was trying to be angry but failing. Maybe that was because I’d made her so damn happy.
“I’ve been busy,” Vanessa said.
“Yeah, I’ve been keeping her busy,” Dayton added.
He and I shared a look. I got it. I might not have understood a day or so ago, but after meeting Gennie, I could fully see why someone would want to shut out the world and just exist with another person for a while.
“You came all the way here because I wasn’t responding to your texts?” Vanessa asked.
“I thought you were in danger.”
Gennie stepped up to stand next to me. I had to resist the urge to put my arm around her. That would just confuse this situation further.
“She’s safe with me,” Dayton said. “You definitely don’t have to worry about her.”
“Well, I didn’t know you,” Gennie said. “I knew nothing about this town. From where I sat, my friend drove to the mountains to write a book, then called me and said she was never coming back before going off the grid.”
“I write psychological thrillers,” Vanessa said, glancing over at her new man. “But Gennie sometimes has a better imagination.”
