I reach out a trembling hand towards him, and he grasps it, lacing our fingers together.
“An—an artificial heat drug or something,” I say. “He—he wanted me to agree to bond with him.”
A wave of cramps so painful I’d vomit if I had anything in my system hit me, and I let out a keening wail. I rub my legs together, trying to get some relief. My slick has soaked through my panties and my pajama shorts at this point.
“Take off your shirt too, man,” Chase orders Archer, turning around in the front passenger seat. “I’m worried about what easing her need will do since I’ve got no clue what that drug did to her, but skin-to-skin contact with both of you will help.”
Archer rips off his shirt and Kane turns me so I’m in his lap between them. I feel Archer at my back through my tank top.
“Please,” I whimper. I’d beg so much harder if my brain was functional enough to form words, but I seem to have to settle for one word statements.
“We’re getting you somewhere safe, Angel,” Madden says from the driver’s seat. “We’ll get you some help, we promise.”
I cling to Archer and Kane, tears starting to flow down my cheeks again.
“You guys came,” I whisper. “To rescue me.”
“Of course,” Archer says. The intensity of his statement is so definitive it squashes any doubt I had taking root in my heart.
“And you’re all alive,” I sob.
“We are,” Madden says, looking back at me through the rear view mirror.
“I was so scared.” I bury myself in Kane’s arms, soaking into his pine forest scent.
“We’re here,” Madden says, pulling sharply into a parking lot. “Let’s take her up the back way. Charlotte is already waiting in the apartment upstairs.”
The world is a blur again as the cool winter air touches my burning skin. Kane hurries up a flight of stairs and I bounce in his arms.
“Holy fuck,” Charlotte says. “Come in, hurry, I guess it’s good I sent my alphas back downstairs. What happened? What’s wrong with her scent?”
Kane carries me further into the apartment, sitting down on a couch somewhere.
“Artificial heat-inducing drug. Black market, probably,” Chase grunts.
“Got it.” Charlotte immediately seems to enter doctor mode because she leans over my face, her concerned expression coming into view. “You’re gonna feel a prick on your finger, okay Luna? I’m gonna test some of your hormones really quickly.”
I nod, but a whine still leaves my throat when she pries one of my hands away from Kane’s chest. I feel a prick on my index finger and hear the beep of a machine she presses to the drop of blood.
“Okay, while that’s running, let me check that bullet wound,” she says, untying the bloody t-shirt still tied to my arm. Her eyebrows go up when she sees the gauze wrapped around my arm. “Holy shit, someone packed your wound?”
I nod again, swallowing hard and trying to get my voice to work. “It—it was another omega. She—she said she would call?” I turn my gaze to the guys of my pack.
“We got the call, little one,” Kane murmurs. “She told us where to find you.”
Tears of relief fill my eyes. “I’m glad.”
“This is gonna sting, but I have to re-pack the wound, okay?”
“Without—without pain meds?”
“No, with pain meds, of course. I’ll use local anesthetic.” Her eyes go wide in realization. “Did she pack your bullet wound without anything?”
I nod, a shiver running down my spine at the memory of the pain. I don’t think about it for too long though, because another wave of cramps hit me and I let out a keening whine from the back of my throat.
“Shhhh,” Madden purrs, kneeling down in front of the sofa. He brushes back some of my sweaty hair away from my face. “We’re gonna take care of you, Angel. I promise. Just a little bit longer.”
I reach out and hold his hand to my cheek, breathing in his calming dark chocolate scent. I have to admit, when I felt the wave of his dominance flood the room as he barked at Alpha Niall—who apparently isn’t actually named Niall—I felt a gush of slick flood from my pussy. It was so hot.
