"And that actor you talked about—"
Jack allowed himself a smile. "It was going to be my surprise for you."
Guy.
"But now it's no longer a surprise because you're here."
Oh, Jack.
"Well...you're not the only one with surprises."
Jack's gaze narrowed behind his wire-rimmed glasses. "Don't tell me your life update—"
She showed him her ring...and Jilly could only laugh at the way he immediately checked if the diamond sparkling on her finger was real.

"Guy?"
A part of her was just waiting for someone to tell her she was trespassing or something, but everyone was just looking at her.
How weird.
"Guy?"
She waited another moment before trying the handle, and the door swung open immediately.
Um, okay.
Had her husband changed without her knowing, and he suddenly wasn't that concerned about shielding his privacy?
Jilly stepped inside...and immediately wished she hadn’t.
Women’s heels lay discarded on the floor near the entrance, black stilettos that definitely weren’t hers kicked off carelessly as if their owner had been in a hurry. A silk blouse hung over the back of a chair, and then...
