Jack fist bumps his son, and they smile at each other.
“That is a very good rule to live by, sweetie.” Dominic nods, grinning at me proudly. “Just also remember that if it is an unfair fight then you swing as many times as it takes to get them off you, you hear me?” I do not recognize my own voice when I am finished.
The thought of Dominic getting beaten up in school by some rich kids makes my blood boil. I have been brought up around these rich kids who think that they are invincible and mommy and daddy’s money will get them out of trouble.
It is why I kept my distance from most of them all of my life. Hell, I lived with two of them.
They both look at me, not saying a thing for a long time, until Jack moves like a freaking ninja in a flash. I am out of my seat and his lips are pressed against mine while he holds me against his hard body.
“Okay, that is gross.” Dominic fake gags, making us smile.
Jack pecks my lips in a gentle kiss, but it means so much to me, it makes my heart flutter in my chest. How is that?
“Give it a few years, boy, and you will start seeing girls differently,” he says, grinning at his son.
“Yeah, no thanks. Women are too much trouble, sorry, Lilith. I am happy with my video game and my skateboard, Dad.”
“If you say so. Finish up and go shower and get your things ready. I will drop you off at Stefano’s house; I have some errands to run.”
Dominic nods to his father. stuffing the last piece of bacon into his mouth before running from the room, calling out his thanks for the breakfast.
“Do you have plans today?” Jack asks me, placing his plate and mug into the sink.
Shaking my head, I reply, “No. This is actually my two weeks where I have no cakes booked. So it is my usual hours of cooking sugar, and today the store is closed,” I inform him.
He steps in front of me, making my breath seize up in my chest. Dragging my gaze up his bare chest, my nipples harden. As my gaze comes up to meet his, he looks down at me with heat in his eyes.
“I will drop Dom off at his friend’s house for this party.” His voice is deep, and it makes my body temperature rise like hot sugar. “He is staying the night so, baby, you are mine. All. Night. Long.”
My body shivers, making him smirk at me, proud of his ability to make my body respond to his words.
He steps back and leaves the room, like he didn’t just almost make me combust. I sink down onto the chair behind me as his words bounce around my head and I cannot stop the giggle that escapes.
Damn, he is good.
CHAPTER FIFTEEN
JACK
Dom jumps into the back seat of my truck, before strapping himself into his seat.
“You ready?” I call to him.
“Yeah. I have Stefano’s birthday gift, and his card that I wrote myself. He will love this baseball mitt and jersey, Dad. We give the best gifts,” he boasts. “Plus, I come bearing tasty cupcakes, thanks to Lilith.” He beams at the mention of her.
“You picked his gift, Kid, not me. You know your friends, so what you got for him shows your friendship. And as for the cupcakes, Lilith always knows how to deliver the sugary goodness.”
“She is the best.”
My lips tilt up in a smile when he says that my girl is the best, and I know that I have to broach the subject of him knowing about me and Lilith. We told him that she was staying with us because there was an issue at her apartment, and we had the most room.
“So, speaking of Lilith…”
He brings his gaze back to mine, through the rearview mirror.
“I know she is your girlfriend,” is all he says.
“Is that so?”
