Without thinking twice, I gave Saturn the rest of what I had and let loose deep inside of her. From the way her walls convulsed, I knew she’d come with me. Once my high came down, I pulled out of her fell to my side.
“Shit, girl. What the hell made you wake me up like that?” I asked.
Saturn was still lying on her stomach, catching her breath as she laughed at my question.
“I let my intrusive thoughts win.”
“You should let them win more often. I knew the pussy was gonna be good, but you surpassed my expectations. You sure your ex not stalkin’ you. Ain’t no way a man in his right mind let that go,” I said as I pointed down at her.
“You have nothing to worry about,” she giggled. “But really, I just wanted to show you that I’m just as into this as you. I never want you to feel like you’re putting forth all the effort. I had my reservations, but it wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t reciprocate.”
I appreciated Saturn for her words of reassurance. I understood her stance, but I needed to know I wasn’t wasting my time. Love had been the last thing on my mind when I moved to Pleasant Springs, but I truly felt like the stars were aligned for Saturn and me. Had she not delivered those roses to my house by mistake, we probably wouldn’t have met. Our friendship came naturally and she fit me. When I asked her about dating exclusively, a small part of me felt like Saturn wasn’t completely sure. Hearing her words relaxed me and I hoped we could move past this topic for good. Once we got past that topic, I got us to the shower and realized we had more important shit to discuss.
“Saturn, I didn’t pull out?—"
She cut me off. “I’m on the pill.”
“On the pill? Why, if you aren’t having sex?” I questioned as I paused from washing her body.
“I’ve been taking it for about five years now. My cycles were irregular and being on birth control helps keep them on track.”
Nodding, I went back to tending to her before washing myself.
“You want a T-shirt and shorts?”
“Just a T-shirt and a pair of boxers if you have some.”
Since Saturn had no clothes here, I rummaged through my things to see what she’d be most comfortable in. After giving her the requested items, we placed an order for seafood boils on a delivery app. While we waited for it to arrive, Saturn and I went to the living room and made ourselves comfortable on the couch. She wanted to watch some romance movie she hadn’t seen in a while. It was a chick flick for sure, but it kept me interested.
“You know you aren’t going home tonight, right? It’s almost nine and we haven’t eaten yet.”
“I knew you weren’t letting me leave when you asked me to shower with you. My sister told me to pack a small bag when I told her I was coming over here,” Saturn admitted.
“You told her you were coming over here?”
“Yeah. She’s big on knowing where I am if I’m not home or at the shop. I hardly ever do anything, so she takes it upon herself to know my every step.”
“I don’t blame her. I’m two hours from Gwendal, but I still have my sister’s location. My dad is there, but knowing where she is gives me a peace of mind. I just want you to remember you’re always safe with me. Everything I do is with you and your safety in mind.”
Our food didn’t come until a little after ten o’clock. The rest of the night was spent with us watching more movies and sharing more about our parents and siblings. Before we went tobed for the night, I took Sparky on a quick walk. Once we were back in bed, I pulled Saturn on top of me and ran a hand through her copper strands as she lay on my chest. Having a woman in my life woke up the most dominant parts of me. I had someone who needed my protection and would eventually look for me to provide. I’d already started to move with intention where Saturn was concerned, but she was my responsibility now. A responsibility I wouldn’t mess around about.
As she slept, I thought about everything under the sun. The last thought that crossed my mind was Carmen. I wasn’t entertaining her on any level, but the thought of her ruining this thing I had with Saturn pissed me off. I could’ve been overthinking, but it wasn’t something I took lightly. Knowing Carmen had unresolved feelings made me think I needed to take a trip home just to nip shit in the bud.

“Are you sure you’re good with keeping Sparky?”
“Yes. At this point, he’s mine just as much as he is yours. I think I’ve been a good dog mom since he’s been around,” I admitted.
Mccoy was getting ready to head out to some part of Kentucky I’d never heard of. He found a car he couldn’t pass up and was now making a last-minute trip. I didn’t know much about Kentucky, but I knew there were certain areas Mccoy didn’t need to be in after the sun went down. The only thing that gave me peace was knowing Justin was going with him. The two of them had their concealed carry licenses, but I was still worried.
“I’m just making sure, baby. Having a dog is like having a child and I feel like I’ve been asking you to keep him a lot. I’m not trying to take advantage of your help.”
“I know that. That’s why I don’t mind. He’s good company anyway. I think my mom is gonna want to hold him hostage though,” I stated as I rubbed Sparky’s back.
Tonight, my parents were forcing my sister and I to come over for dinner. In their defense, it had been a while since Istopped by to see them. They came to the shop when they had time, but even that hadn’t happened lately.
