“Well hello, everybody. Thank y’all for coming out.”
“Saturn, please stop with the customer service voice. Your mom just told me you sold out of everything. I knew you’d do good,” Ava said with a smirk.
“Thank you, girl. I’ll be participating again next year.”
“Thank you for making my candles a part of the setup. I got a few emails from people asking me about pricing. First thing I’m doing on Monday morning is seeing if I can access my old website. I need to get that back up and running,” Sapphire expressed.
Those candles were the first items I ran out of today. I didn’t know the first thing about candle making, but Sapphire had put her heart in that batch. I also felt like adding them to the event would do exactly what it did, which was bring her customers. Sapphire never came out and told me she wanted to go into business again, but she didn’t have to. Any time we talked about her candle making, I felt the passion she had for it. I knew having a baby made things harder, but I wasn’t sure why Sapphire had shut it down in the first place. If she were a more open person, I would’ve felt more comfortable inquiring, but that wasn’t the case.
“Of course. I told you they would do well. The first scent to go was the lavender one. I think next time I’ll have to put a limit on how many candles can be purchased per person. One lady came and bought four at once.”
“Really? I wish I could’ve made it earlier to see everything and help out, but I couldn’t get a sitter for Ky,” Sapphire vented.
“That’s why you said you couldn’t make it?”
“Yes. I didn’t have a sitter and I knew the festival would be just about over around this time.”
“I wish you would’ve told me. Since it’s an event, I wouldn’t have cared if you brought her.”
“I knew you would say that, Saturn. I thought about bringing her, but I didn’t want to bring her out here and have to constantly stop in the middle of what I’m doing to tend to her. Kylie is a good baby, but she’s still a baby.” She chuckled.
Instead of speaking, I nodded in acknowledgement. If Sapphire stayed around long enough, she’d come to see how welcoming my family was. My parents had no grandchildren yet and would have been over the moon to help watch Kylie. I wanted to explain that to Sapphire, but there was no need. She’d come around at her own pace.
“Baby, where do you want these tables?” Mccoy asked, pulling me from my thoughts.
“You can just leave them in the lobby. The guy I rented them from is gonna be here Monday morning to pick them up.”
Following my man’s lead, I started taking decorations from the table to clean up. The crowd was dying down and dusk settled in as we dismantled everything. With the help of my parents and Justin, it only took us about half an hour to get everything put away. Once that was done, I thanked everyone and decided to head in for the night. Ava wanted to go out for drinks, but my body was so tired that I’d surely fall asleep at the bar. It had been a long day. On top of that, Mccoy was still recovering from the night before.
“Baby?”
“Yes, Mccoy?” I asked groggily.
Now we were at his house and had finally made it to bed after showering and walking Sparky one last time. My eyes were shut and I was only moments away from dreamland.
“Look at me.”
“Mccoy, I’m tired. I thought you said you were too tired for sex anyway.”
“It’s not about sex, baby. I just wanted to make sure we were good after that Carmen shit.”
My eyes popped open at the mention of her name. Not because I wanted to talk about her, but more so because it’d slipped my mind to make sure her ass wasn’t following us around.
“We were good when I let you slide in me at the shop. I’m not worried about anything. I believed you when you said you didn’t want her anymore. Even if you’re not telling the truth, it’ll come to the light one day. I can’t stress about it right now. Earlier I was worried that she’d be a problem and continue to pop up, but right now I don’t have the energy to worry about that either,” I admitted.
Gripping my chin and pulling my face in his direction, Mccoy brought his lips to mine and kissed me deeply before speaking.
“First off, nothing is in the darkness that needs to come to the light. Carmen is my past and that’s that. My focus is on you and making you my wife. I just need to make sure we’re on the same page. Saturn, I’ll give you the world if you let me. I know I can be the man of your dreams. If you’re sure you want what I want, then I promise I got us. All I want you to do is focus on the shop and going back to school.”
“I’m all in with you, baby. I don’t plan on leaving unless you give me a reason to.”
“That’s never gon’ happen.”
Mccoy trailing kisses on my neck and lips were the last thing I felt before I finally drifted off. Life was great right now and I wished I could live in this moment forever.
