“By the way, when are you two planning to make me an uncle?” Abhinandan asked out of nowhere, and I instantly glanced at Rudra, who gave a shy smile, blushing a little.
My cheeks warmed up as memories from the early morning resurfaced in my mind.
“Not anytime soon,” Rudra said firmly.
“Why? Are you impotent?” Abhinandan teased, and my eyes widened in shock.
Rudra shot a glare at him.“Shut up, Abhi,” he growled.
“Or what?” Abhinandan challenged playfully.
“I have your secrets,” Rudra said darkly.
“What secrets?” I immediately asked, suspicious. They both glanced at each other, exchanging quick looks, but said nothing.“Tell me. Now,” I insisted.
Their eyes widened as if they'd suddenly remembered I was sitting there.“What? I said, Tell me what you're talking about,” I repeated firmly.
“You can't,” Abhinandan said quickly to Rudra, but Rudra replied softly,“She’s my wife. She’s asking,”
I gritted my teeth.“Don't tell me it’s about a girl,” I warned, narrowing my eyes. Rudra bit his lower lip.“So, it is about a girl! And if I’m not wrong, it’s about Rudra’s sister, isn’t it, Nandan?” I asked sharply, looking at Abhinandan.
He clicked his tongue and smiled nervously.“It’s nothing serious,” he said hurriedly.
I lowered my gaze for a moment and then looked at Rudra, whose shocked face gave away that it was indeed serious.
“Rudra, do you know anything?” I asked again.
He looked at me, then at Abhinandan, then back at me, and again at Abhinandan.
“What the hell are you two hiding?” I asked, growing angrier.
“I think... I do, Nandani,” Rudra said finally, and Abhinandan immediately cut in,
“No, it’s nothing! She’s getting married soon anyway!” he saidhastily, trying to cover up.
Now I was utterly shocked. Rudra’s face screamed seriousness while Abhinandan was trying to brush it off. I could feel there was something they weren’t telling me.
“Ranaji,” an attendant’s voice interrupted, and we all turned toward her.
“Yes?” Rudra responded.
“Guruji has come to meet you and Ranisa,” she said respectfully, and Rudra looked at me with amused eyes.
“What? Guruji?” he asked, surprised.
We all quickly got up and made our way to the guest chamber. I pulled my veil down properly and followed Rudra and Abhinandan.
As we entered, Rudra and I bent down to touch Guruji’s feet. He blessed us warmly.
“May God bless you with a beautiful and brave son,” he said kindly. Abhinandan also bent down to take his blessings.
Guruji smiled warmly and then handed Rudra a scroll.
“With the grace of God, we have found an eligible bachelor for our Trisha. We have decided to marry her on the twentieth day of next month,” he announced.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Abhinandan’s face turn pale at the news. I watched Rudra, who smiled and accepted the invitation with reverence, touching it to his forehead.
“We will surely come, Guruji,” Rudra said, and Guruji smiled warmly.
